i couldn't agree more. That's why when I tried getting into kpop, I just couldn't. Especially I had come across Bangtan's incredible artistry. Other than 1 or 2 groups and few songs, I find most kpop to be boring. I just love bts.
As a multistan across k-pop (including a army) i Gotta admit Watching J-hope's performance is not only a breath of fresh air from the mainstream pop but a top 5 MAMA performance easily this year. it reminded me of 2nd Gen Boy groups during MAMA.
Everyone says J-Hope was so smart to put on such a stage and I agree. He is very well-known for his incredible dance but he never actually dances in his solo stages. He put the focus on his stage presence and songwriting skills and it’s so smart and bold of him! “This is exactly how I wanted to show my album’s concept” He said on his vlive later. Jhope created a very unique concept and made it so memorable. There will never be someone like him ever again 👑🔥
@lea larsen I think what made bts so loved is their artistry which if you dive deep has their most personal thoughts and feelings skillfully articulated. It's just that people who viewed them from an outsiders perspective and listened on the surface level would have only thought of them as idols. Their solo work will hoepfully change that mindset and let people see through their past and future artistry without the categorization as 'idol music'
same they have all gone from idols to artists only with their solo projects and that is so smart. they will be known as artists when they return as a group before people was always doubting them but now they are proving it

By tightening up the visuals and choreo, J-Hope used his experience to avoid the issues many other artists run into. This stage showed that he's an amazing artist who can adapt to give a outstanding performance by considering what barriers he needs to get past to display his work to the fullest.
