I am so excited I am literally bouncing in my seat. If this were anyone but you who did this, I would think they were nuts. But Dan, who is so much more than a gardener, can definitely pull it off. They are just big Legos after all. Oh my goodness, you totally made my day!!! 🧡
Same this is going to be BRILLIANT 👏🏻👏🏻
So excited to see you renovate this very sorry looking Chateau. I think you are mad though.
Totally agree !!! It’s going to be the most exciting, interesting project EVER🎉 wow. Good luck Dan and be careful!
It seems crazy but if anyone can do it Dan can, I’m so looking forward to future vlogs hope the winter will not slow down work too much
Oh wow this is the amazing chateau that you showed us a few years ago! Is Annalise going to be involved with this project - I was hoping you two would get back together! The Chateau is amazing what a fantastic project!!!
France is incredibly lucky to have people like you who are interested in saving their heritage. Well done, and we look forward to seeing your journey!
I applaud your determined courage to buy and renovate such a property. It seems like an unimaginably daunting, Herculean task. Good luck. Best regards from the US.
You have to be determined and a visionary to look beyond the decay and embark on what will be an incredible transformation. I’m absolutely enthralled in watching your accomplishments and bring this beautiful building back into use, a fabulous home for your family and boy what a story and legacy you will create. ❤️
Wow. I just bought my first apartment and I get overwhelmed by the amount of money, time effort and focus I will have to put in to restore it to its full glory. I don’t know why, but I fully appreciated that overwhelming feeling, but also the bravery, that it takes for you to undertake this. Congratulations and I hope for nothing but succes for you. You’re very capable.
For somebody skillful an apartment is an nightmare. Endless discussion with condominium. Parking. Lift. No workshop ...
With a property like that, logistics is easy, no neigbour to complain, noise at any time, workshop, vehicle to repair ...
I get overwhelmed cleaning out the garage. 😂
Dan, I am thrilled for you! If anyone can pull this off, it's you. No doubt you'll be getting some help as time passes. If I was younger and lived close to you, I'd be there to help! You deserve this gem! I am so looking forward to seeing the progress....I know it will be a gem in the making!
It’s sort of lovely just as it is, falling apart and completely hugged and embraced by nature. It looks like something out of a fairytale. I can’t imagine how incredibly stunning it will be when restored to its original beauty, surrounded by green with sunlight streaming through the windows. ooh- it makes me excited and so happy for you : )
I feel the same! It would be great in a movie!
I remember your original posting about visiting this chateau with Annalise and the boys. She did all the filming and was just mesmerised by the place. I really liked it when she did the filming and the narration on your early blogs. I am so sad that she will not be sharing in this restoration vision with you as I think she was your biggest asset.
I am so happy that people like you are restoring these beautiful buildings. God bless you!
I’m so excited for this and wow has the production value of your vlogs gone through the roof since episode 18. Hearing the excitement in Annalise’s voice from then is bittersweet. Onwards and upwards good luck to Dan it’s going to be spectacular 😮
Amazing. So happy that there are people like you in the world willing to bring a grand, older lady like this back to her glory!
How brave must you be to tackle such an enourmous project by yourself; if you are capable of such challenge , then you must know that there will not be in your life anything that you cannot do!!! What a role model for your children you are; what a legacy you are for them.
It is a privilege to be able to accompany you on your journey since you started and Stephanie announced that you had a CHclip channel. This is great, super great news. Congratulations, dear Dan. Every time a person progresses, we all do it in some way. It is absolutely wonderful. Tons of congratulations! Enthusiasm is something contagious, a good virus that fills us with life and without a doubt, both you and Stephanie are capable of spreading it. Thank you from my heart. Heap, heap, Hurrah!!! 🍾🍾🍾🍾🍾🍾
What did it cost to buy?
I love these sorts of projects! I work as an architect part time and I've been working with lots of late 19th to early 20th century houses and buildings in Sweden to date so if you need some help by chance feel free to reach out.
Oh Dan ... I want to cry! This truly is an amazing Chateau and you are so talented and gifted, you will bring it back to life!!! I love it and I'm so excited and happy for you. I can't wait to see what and how you will recreate it. The stone and exterior look in good sound state. Tell us how much land is with the Chateau. I hope you have lots of good help. Can't wait to see what treasures you discover. What a beautiful history. My heart is about to bust ... Love to you for what you are doing...
Wow the idea of restoring it is fascinating .You deserve a recognition from local authority at least
this is not restoration, its rebuilding.
local authority doesnt care about this stuff, thats why these places even get to this point...
What an incredible project, Dan. I am very excited to see what you can do to bring this wonderful chateau back to life.
Dan, this is such a monumental undertaking...and I could not be more excited to see this journey unfold! If ever there was a person who could tackle this job, it is definitely Dan the Man! I don't even know how you go about starting something this big, but...you never cease to impress with your hard work and skill!
Some part are so well preserved while others are completely obliterated. So strange.
I’m so glad to see someone bring a once fabulous place back to its former glory - as original as possible! So excited for you!
Excited!!! I am blown away Dan! The history alone so far is stunning to say the least. What a pedigree the Chateau has! Super-Dan to the rescue I say!
I am just amazed at how hard you have worked on this awesome project Dan. All the individual changes you have made Dan are mind blowing and now you are putting the beams and the boarding in its beginning to show the real shape of things and all the different perspectives. I can't wait till you can access that balcony the view will be amazing. Can't wait for the next instalment.
I like people like you that can see beauty and symmetry beyond a carcass chateau the entrace to the chateau is enchanting as well as the surroundings and the facade is lovely. I'm going to follow you on your journey to see how your project evolves. The chateau is empty inside but your beautiful mind is full of wonderful ideas.
You did it! I'm so happy and excited for you! I always secretly thought you deserved a chateau of your own. Congrats Dan!!!
yeyeyeye
The history is something else this Chateau was a sanctuary for children to safely stay during the Holocaust &Coco Chanel lived there .. the parties must have been grand.
Happy for you Dan and your family. You have worked hard in your life and it is paying off✨
You will restore her to her glory🌻
No Coco Chanel didn't live in this chateau. She didn't own the chateau. It was her butler François Mironnet who bought it in 1967 to live there with his wife, an ex-model for Chanel.
The chateau was built in 1901 for a local girl who went to Paris as a singer and a dancer. She met a rich man who built the chateau for her.
In 1940, the chateau was lent to an Association helping refugees and Jewish children were hidden there.
This is going to be an incredible journey. I’m so excited to follow you on this. Congratulations.
I'm so excited to see the renovation process that you do on this beautiful place please keep filming
Stunning acquisition. You can do this, Dan. I'm excited about the restoration vlogs to come. Hooray! Best of luck to you.
The history behind this chateau sounds outstanding! Cannot wait to see and hear more ❤
Billy was so kind to mention you to his viewers. What an amazing project. Can’t wait
While parts are in ruins, you can certainly see the beauty. I can not wait to see this restored. What a precious gem.
Billy has 145k subscribers. I think his relationship with LaLand its only fitting. I see a large green house. 🤣 Good luck Dan
I love how Mother Nature is always there to gently remind us…”I was here before you, and I will be here long after you are gone.”
Amazing how far this has come already, just looking back from where you are at, almost at roof level in only 11 months, what a journey so far
I too had to look back to where it all started. A video could and should be dedicated to 'then and now' where the grounds tamed and the top floor in. Cut to the views at each level as they are achieved. A truly amazing journey.
Oh my gosh, this is wonderful. I’m looking forward to seeing you transform this hidden gem ❤
I scrolled past this video a couple of times, and when I realized it was you, Dan, I am all in. I want to see this restoration, with you at the helm. It will be glorious.
Hey there! I came across your comment and I just had to reach out and say hi. Your perspective really caught my attention and I would love to get to know you better. Would you be interested in chatting sometime? Looking forward to hearing back from you! 😊
So wonderful you are restoring such a beauty! 💖🤹♂️
Your vlogs are amazing. I can’t wait to see the progress you will make. It’s inspiring to the rest of us.
Dan, you have always been my favourite ‘living in France’ vlogger, for your work ethic, humour, family mindedness, sincerity and lack of pretension, amongst many other qualities. I’m now remembering you gave us a hint of this ages ago. It looked like a huge project then. It looks like huge project now. But if anyone can do it, you can. I look forward to future videos. I’m sure they will be fascinating and, as ever, beautifully filmed.
I so agree with the beautifully filmed statement here. I practically felt like I was with him peeking through that door, lol. The drone shots are always spectacular. This is really going to be something else. 🧡
I remember his vlog where a friend was helping him point in his farmhouse kitchen and told him about this place. He took Annalise and the boys to see it. She loved it as well. Still wish his family was still intact.

Dan this is an impressive monumental project. It will be interesting seeing how you work your way through each step of the process . I hope there are some existing drawings and photos to work with as well as some architectural and engineering support for your build and permitting process.
The fact the walls are still intact, says a lot about the craftsmanship of them.
I can't wait to see how you bring this chateau back to its original beauty 💕
This whole story is incredible. I wish you all the best in your journey and will definitely be watching!
Just wow! We all know that you will put your hard work, skill and craftsmanship into this once stunning building.
Each job that you tackle and share with us shows your commitment to doing your best with no shortcuts.
Wishing you all the best.❤
Dan, you never cease to amaze me - I had no idea what surprise you were going to spring on us today! Seeing the current state of the château made me tremendously sad because it was such a magnificent building in its prime. I eagerly anticipate following your adventures as you bring it back to life.
Me too! This is going to be EPIC! 🧡
Watching this again it is so Amazing already How far you’ve come with discovering the kitchen and putting in the new beams mind blowing indeed
My wife's family lives in St Francois Lacroix. We've spent a lot of time over the years in this part of the countryside of France. She's actually there right now and I'll be there later this year. If you need an electrical engineer for the project, let me know :-) Good luck!
This is so exciting! A real chateau restoration show. I am definitely watching! This is going to be fantastic!
Amazing property with an incredible potential. I looooove the forest and the trees surrounding the building. I can't wait to see what you do with it. :-)
Very daunting Dan ... but I will watch your journey as you are more than capable of bringing it back to life.
I remember you showing us this chateau when you first started the channel. I’m so delighted that you’ve bought it, even though I think you are utterly bonkers for attempting it! We’ll definitely be watching your escapades
I too remember him showing us this chateau with his family in his earlier vlogs. Good luck Dan .
Such a massive project and hard work.
Yes, I remember all four walking through the forest to this place.
Yes I thought I’d seen it before ,such a big undertaking ,,
@@sandraford4235 I couldn't figure out who in the world had shown it before. Glad I know now! I do remember them going now that others mentioned it.
I am excited to see the weekly progress. What an undertaking!!!
Wow! I’ve been traveling so I missed this vlog until just now. SO excited for you!! If anyone can bring this beauty back, it’s Dan!! Congratulations!!
Dan, my hats off to you. That truly is an honourable task you are taking, I guess when I retire from the Canadian navy I’ll be coming to help you. Because your going to need it.🇨🇦
Stunning building, congratulations Dan, taking on such a fabulous project, look forward to watching your weekly updates 🙂
Wow! I can not wait for the renovations of your Chateau. Congratulations, I believe you will succeed in all your endeavors. This is so exciting and such a positive experience. I will be watching and waiting every Sunday to see your progress. Thank you so much for your inspiring channel.
Holy cow, Dan! That is a monster adventure and I am all in for it. So many questions but I think I will just hang out and see how this goes.
Ditto with the questions, I have about a million, lol. I think I saw a mirror still on the wall in one of those inaccessible rooms. My imagination is running wild. 🧡
Hopefully, there are not too much obligations to it. If the "bâtiments de France" control the rehabilitation, it might be very difficult. I wish you much courage and the passion, and projects to finance this miraculous castle.
Very excited to watch you do this Dan! You can believe I’ll be hanging on the
edge, from Canada! Here’s to you and your family at the start of this grand
Adventure!
Not wild, crazy, and definitely not stupid! More like exciting, adventurous and brave! You're the hardest working man on CHclip. You'll do great!
Will see when it is finished,I saw others like him before
WOW! Just went back through your vlogs & realized you've already seen the chateaux, a year ago, that you've bought.
If anyone can restore it, you can Dan. Can't wait to see what you've already done to restore it.
Love it!💖🙏
Really extremely exiting! Those balconies! Those two seemingly intact rooms! What an amazing project! All the best! And yes, I subscribed your channel! Looking forward to the discoveries and the different rescue projects.
I'm just so happy, that the plan is to restore it back to its original beauty and details. Too many of the people, that restore old
places, tend to modernize and make it look like a newbuild on the inside. This is a huge project, no doubt about it. I wish you lots of luck, and I hope you will make it, so that Miss Coco Chanel herself would feel at home 🙂 YUP, I'm on hooked, Dan! See you Sunday!! 😁
Looks mighty daunting...and I am an optimist. I just don't have the years remaining to see it through, nor do I have skills nor $ to make it happen. You can do it Dan.
I can imagine that castle was a beautiful home to someone. ❤
Okay, now I get it. I saw your video about clearing the land and didn't get the context. Now, I get it. How cool that you're committed to full restoration. What a massive project! I can't wait to see the progress and result... And love the history. Wow!
What an immense undertaking! Can you imagine what Dan could do if we all gave just $1.00 per month? I’ll sign up, and watch the miracle of restoration.
Sounds like a great idea! I'm in!
When it comes to charity, helping someone own a chateau, isn’t on my list.
Such a beautiful place. Makes you wonder who built it and who lived there. The memories of those people could be felt in that building.
Hello Dan! I am excited to watch you restore this property. I have followed you on Stephanie's channel for some time! I cannot wait to begin this journey!
Wow! What a project and a place for you and the boys to enjoy in years to come.
I have a feeling there will be a need for you to have a number of volunteers over the years to really help make a dent on the clearing the needs to happen.
A roof, windows and doors will obviously be the priority.
Time for everyone to watch the adverts all the way through to help fund this.
It was also great for Billy Petherick to encourage some of his viewers to support you.
Great work Dan and good luck
You & the boys? I thought he was married?
@@ranlive1 they split up
@@ranlive1 Separated for a very long time. He was living at Lalande for a while then his grandfather’s place. Good for him.
How can u afford to repair this it will take thousands
I cant wait to follow your progress on this restoration. I wish i was young enough, id offer my labor to see this first hand!! Cheers from Canada!!
This is the most interesting Restoration Project I have ever seen.
And yes, I´m watching Steph and The Pethericks, but this Project is smahing everything I have ever seen.
It´s so exciting to see how you will bring back this sleeping Beauty to life.
Your restoration project makes my project look easy by comparison! I like how you cast the vision to make it "just like it was".
Incredible! Enjoy the journey of taking your chateau from corse to fine. We'll be sending our loving good wishes to you from Tennessee, USA!
Dan! That is insanely amazing! The facade is still stunning despite the fire damage!.Wow! That is quite some project but you can do it and I look forward to seeing it progress! An amazing legacy for your children also xxx
Congratulations Dan! With all the work you’ve done in Lalande, I think it was just a matter of months for you to find your own chateau. It definitely looks like a challenge and I hope that the structure is still strong enough so you can just add the missing bits. Fighting.
You are so blessed that you are able and capable of doing this . Wishing you the best!
Enjoying your work and your passion for your new château!!!! ❤
Wow! Just a shell. But hopefully the shell is in great condition and you’re a young man who looks able to build! Can’t wait to see what you end up with.
This is the first I’ve seen of this, I get a feeling that it’s going to be miraculous 😊
It takes vision and amazing courage to take on a project this size--and you have both. WOW! What an inspiration to all of us to live courageous and imaginative lives.
Wow Dan, you will have enough new content to film for the rest of your life. I can't wait to come along for the journey.
I thought the same, job security of sorts!
I can't believe I came across this again. Some time back I saw a clip of some guy who bought a total ruin in the middle of a forest. I thought he was nuts. I didn't realize it was Dan. What he has achieved is amazing.
This looks beyond repair and would cost more than a new building.
Oh my goodness! You are doing something I always wait to do, but I've been told it's crazy and impossible to restore a beautiful, abandoned, damaged building. Some places just seem to reach out to us, asking us to bring them back to life and restore their glory!
Great project!! Make sure to make lots of great photos. I am sure some of these before images would look great being displayed on the walls of the completed chateau - especially a dramatic shot of the tree going inside.
Best wishes to you Dan. I'll be watching your progress.
I cannot imagine these lovely chateaus being lost forever. So I am very pleased people like yourselves are dedicated to restoring and bringing back the grandeur of such amazing buildings. Top that with sharing so much of yourselves with the public. Huge Kudos!
Exciting project! I hope you can find and share photos of the former Interiors. Neat history. Can't wait to see this Chateau come to life to its former glory!
What an amazingly difficult project you have taken on. I admire your obvious admiration for things historical & I am 100% behind your effort to fulfill your dream of restoring the beautiful piece of the past. Looking forward to seeing all of your videos.
This was recommended by CHclip 😳I’m so excited subscribed immediately so I didn’t miss any uploaded videos.
An adventure I don’t want to miss .
Take care x
WOW! My heart is full 💓 You are the right person for this monstrous task and you will make it more beautiful than it already is just there.
Most people would run from this but you see 👀 much more than any of us. May this fulfill your heart and your dreams. Wishing you all the best. I'll be watching along as you transform this Chateau. Love Love the idea of you restoring, creating and rebuilding this place which needs love. You are amazing 👏
Stunning!! Can’t wait to see you bring it back to life again!!! ❤
This is gonna be awesome Dan! Cant wait to discover everything! Your channel is gonna grow a lot witht that project!! Good luck!
The forestpath toward the chateau is lovely. Than the way it becames visible is like a present. And watching a few channels about chateau renovations, and living, i think you will be able to do it over time. No matter how crazy, or wild. You all seem to have a way of seeing what it can become. A great sence of the history and love for each of all of your individual properties, and the stamaner to see it thru. All totally different owners, all with that kind of advanterious amadgenation. I wish you great succes! And maybe i'm wrong, but i think i've seen a vlog with Annalise and the boys that you were there.
Looks like the castle in Stephanie‘s fathers painting in the new bathroom at lalande with the red blocks!
Simply marvelous , looks meant to be ,good luck Dan!!!!
Hey there! I came across your comment and I just had to reach out and say hi. Your perspective really caught my attention and I would love to get to know you better. Would you be interested in chatting sometime? Looking forward to hearing back from you! 😊
I'm so excited and happy for you. What a lovely story of this chateau and I can not wait to watch the transformation.
Greetings from New Zealand 🇳🇿 👍🏻 new subscriber sent from Billy Petherick. What a gorgeous chateau with so much potential and a lot of work. Kudos to you for doing your best to give this amazing chateau another chance.
Dan you are a genius for finding this gem there is no doubt in ny mind you can do it .I will watch every episode.
Good luck Dan, your energy and talent couldn't go into anything better. I'll be watching and cheering you on from USA. It's beautiful and will be more so in your hands.
Just found this channel. Can't wait to catch up with all the videos and go on this journey with you.
I know I've often dreamed of living in a castle or chateau and I know I'm not the only one. This channel will grow fast now!
Amazing chateau and history 👏 The very best to you in bringing it back to life 🙌 Well Done 👏
