Rickey, my heart goes out to you. I lost my son 3 years ago, he was only 18, to fentanyl poisoning. One thing that helped me was talking to other people with similar stories - no one else understands. Everyone finds their own way through it. It will never go away, but I promise you it will get better. With love in my heart, I wish you the best.

However, as I stand on my comment as well as not everyone grieves the same, and maybe just maybe using social media is Mr.Smiley way of coping with the loss of his son is all I'm saying. To those of you who feel that Ricky should have not shared the passing of his son on social media. First of all none of us know what Ricky's mindset was at that moment especially if it was unexpected. How I know firsthand. oftentimes it takes reality to kick in from such a loss.7 years ago I lost my son unexpectedly and I went about my life as if he was still here until I had to make his funeral arrangements which hit me like a ton of bricks. Reality foundly kicked in and 7 years later I'm still grieving off and on. There's no pain Worster than losing your child. Maybe sharing his loss on social media is helping Rickey to cope with such a loss on a parent never gets over from but tries to live with. that void can never be filled. I just can't believe how insensitive some of these comments are which leaves me to wonder had it been your child would you guys would be of the same opinion? I just hope that our Heavenly Father will give Rickey and his family the strength and comfort they need to endure. the loss of his child.My condolences to the family.

I’m praying for you and your family. Unfortunately I lost my only son in 2014 in a vehicle accident two weeks before his 20 birthday. I understand exactly hat you mean when you talk about the way you are feeling. I went from being shocked,sad,mad and now I’m just at peace knowing my son is in heaven with zero heartache or pain.I too beat myself up a lot about wishing I would’ve been a better mother etc but I feel in my heart my son knew I loved him and that’s truly all I care about.

I lost my husband at 36. I know how hard that was on his parents and how bad it hurt them. Time goes on but you never really get over losing somebody. At some point, it’s always going to hurt again. I also lived a similar nightmare and it doesn't get any better but we just learn how to cope with the harsh reality of losing your child. I lost my daughter Feb of 2020 and I haven't been the same since for multiple reasons. She was 19 and vibrant and intelligent just like her mom. I raised my daughter by myself after losing her mom. The very first thought I had in my head was... how am I gonna raise this beautiful little girl without her mom being present?.... sheesh or what do I tell our daughter when she asks where's mommy? Brother I had no great clue how I or if I was gonna be able to deal. But myself and God almighty did a great job. So after losing my daughter...the first person I thought about was her mom and than I realized that two of the most important people in my life are no longer with me. But I prey and hope that their together. God is so great and I hope that the sun shines upon you and your family with great blessings and strength. Purple and gold love brother. Peace.
