However... it turns out that the back glass of the Titanium iPhone 15 pro max isnt quite ready for prime time. Something is wrong with Apples new iPhone 15 Pro max.

    if I had to take a guess the titanium was a fix for an unusually breakable design. They went as far as they could, and then made the glass back “removable for repair”. I think most people would sacrifice a small increase in thickness for guaranteed durability. But apples technology superiority, or lack there of, probably drove them to make this compromise for marketing efforts. Kind of shortsighted for the highest margin product you sell.

    • @MrFlarespeed
      @MrFlarespeed Před 2 měsíci +11

      Interestingly, titanium and aluminum have the same yield strength, but titanium has a higher tensile strength. What this means is that aluminum and titanium will start plasticly (laymans terms: permanently) deforming at the same pressure, but break at different pressures.
      What this means for the phone is that the glass would shatter at relatively the same pressure regardless of the case material.

It reaches such a high temperature that it interrupts charging and then resumes it after a short time. I thought it was a battery problem, so I took it to an Apple service center where they changed it. However, the problem has not been solved, on the contrary. Some people tell me that it's normal, although in my opinion it's not, because if charging stops it means there's something abnormal. Do you think it could be a processor-related problem or something else? Could anyone who has a similar problem and maybe solved it help me?

    Ok. The iPhone 15 PMax didn't actually bend. The titanium remained the same in its structural condition. The glass back panel (which is bigger in dimension than the regular pro) cracked during the bend test naturally because the titanium frame is too strong and it won't bend, and as such, during the test, more pressure was applied against the glass panel than is necessary.

The "hundreds of dollar" figures he is quoting in the video are internet retail prices that no one, in the history of the internet, has actually paid. Manufacturers increase prices *thousands* of percent so that when they reduce it to only hundreds of percent, fools think they are getting a good price. As a side note, licencing costs are $33 per phone and there is $8 in management and marketing. No phone on earth cost as much as $50 from start till it is in you hands, the rest is pure profit.

      The stupid thing is the USB-C spec allows alternate modes. Two devices connected via USB-C can negotiate to use the USB data wires to carry signals other than USB. That's how HDMI, DisplayPort, and Thunderbolt (which is just PCIe) over USB-C work. Apple could easily have made a Lightning alternate mode and put a USB-C port on its phones 8 years ago, without losing compatibility with pre-existing Lightning devices.

    the break seams more like a shock absorption method. if the back glass is meant to be brittle then it would absorb shocks and act as a temporary and highly replaceable way to keep other parts of the phone safe

      It's definitely a design flaw. No phone company from Samsung to Apple would make a part of their phone purposely break so easily to protect the phone. The amount of pressure he used litterally can just happen in your pocket. Apple definitely screwed up hard on this one.

    Pretty sure the back glass fragility is due to the process of infusing metal ions into the glass that Apple used to add the color.

    How likely is it to break if it's in your back pocket and you sit down on it? Very worried about making sure I remove it from my back pocket before sitting down anywhere now. I upgraded from an iphone 7 to this and was hoping apple would've done the appropriate testing before releasing this out in the wild. Do they not do bend tests? LOL

      Fun fact, I found a website that might even be where Zack got the rod, the grade 2 rod (1in diameter, 12in long) costs 170 bucks, the grade 5 rod costs 230. I can definitely see wanting to save 50 bucks for something that shows up for like a minute at most in the video.
