We just have to be careful not to let potus or the senate/house use specific instances to allow them to pass Bills that afford them more power that will never be recended. I have a saying. Give the govt enough power to govern but not rule. Probably a hundred or so years too late for that but, I can dream.

The stats provided were collected prior to the crisis being discussed here, and thus don’t show the dramatic increase in attempted boarder crossings being referenced. It’s either an ignorance on you part or a flat out deceit, but the point is you should data that actually reflects the time period in question.

Looking at the US from scandinavia, I don't even know how to put it in to words. It shows everyone how fragile our democracy is when the people of a nation stop thinking and rely on their feelings. When large demographics just want "simple" "solutions" - Trump is not to blame, the reason for this mess lies with the education system, or maybe it is a cultural thing. At any point there is a lack of intellectual self criticism, and an unwillingness to give up goods for other people who might need them more. Being able to discover that you yourself were wrong and being able to see the benefit of ones own tax money going to other people than your family, those are the basic values you need to have a cohesive society. But I hear so many otherwise decent americans who don't want singlepayer healtcare because "why should I pay for someone elses treatment" Americans need to understand why you have the kinds of crime and violence that you have, compared to scandinavia. Having churches and rich people giving handouts don't work - it needs to be a fundamental right that the individual can count on. Well that turned out to be a rant. Also leaving room in your collective mindset that there are gods that can help you if you mind talk to them doesn't' help bring up the intellectual base level. It just makes more room for cognitive dissonance

We need a wall, Congress voted in favour during the Bush era and Obama enforced it. Not even the clintons questioned it before Trump. It is legal and we need it, end of discussion.

  • Overworld Entertainment

I'm a bit late to the discussion but I absolutely appreciate the unbiased viewpoint of the topic. I think what is presented on Trump's side is that while border security has been doing well with apprehending illegal immigrants at border, those statistics only highlight that of where border patrol is stationed. It's equivalent to the argument that if a tree falls in the woods and nobody is around, does it make a sound? Well yes it does, but because nobody can catalogue the sound, it doesn't exist in the books... So illegal immigrants are crossing beyond the scope of current border patrol, but how many is unknown. Building a wall will at least protect the flanks of our border since most is unguarded. Even with the current Budget, you can only guarantee legal immigration to those you can see

0:19 "...from a purely legal and analytical standpoint"
1:55 and 6:43 injects political opinion
For those who want to learn the ACTUAL truth about a border wall... let's take a CLOSER look at the United States Constitution that liberals, progressives, and Democrats always overlook:

    Art. II, Sec. 3:
Imposes the duty upon the President to take care that the Laws be faithfully executed.

As long as a law exists requiring documentation and permission to enter the country (as on vacation) or requiring permission and a willingness to renounce all existing citizenship and swearing sole and faithful allegiance to the United States (as to become a citizen), then the President can do ANYTHING HE WANTS to take care that those laws (immigration laws) be faithfully executed. Period. To think otherwise requires either VERY low intelligence or a willful desire to destroy this country.

Also, the people who are the MOST vocal opponents of illegal aliens... are LEGAL immigrants.

    Deport ALL illegal aliens.
    Immigrants welcome.
If you can't understand the difference, please STOP talking about immigration!

It's cool that you're being educational, but I'm disappointed that you didn't take a clearer stance. Trump's "emergency" is not only illegal and reckless, it's also simply morally wrong, as is everything he's doing at the border, regardless of what the courts will find to be legal in regards to the emergency declaration. I wish you'd take a stance against what is clearly wrong, but you seem to be afraid to upset your conservative viewers. While I can sympathize with not wanting to divide your fans, I think it's time to pick a side. Preferably the right one.

Of course, apprehensions have gone WAY up since this video. And the issue was not just the number of people caught crossing but the make-up (drastic increase in children, both accompanied and unaccompanied), combined with the fact that everyone is now trying to claim asylum ... with 80 - 90% of those cases ultimately being rejected as illegitimate. So I think the specifics of the data will likely work more in their favour rather than against them when this gets to court.

    SABER-JOCKY Před 15 dny

Data is only as good as those who collect and influence it. Just take a look at the border issues now. What do you know. 100,000 plus illegal immigrants basically constitutes an invasion force that would require a full scale military effort to repel, or we could put up a barrier that would in the long run be far cheaper. I am however of the opinion that live fire with a few thousand dead illegals would drive a pretty stern message home that we aren't going to tolerate that shit any longer and should cause would be crossers to think twice about it. Is that what Congress really wants to happen? We've been waging "war" on drugs for decades. Why not add illegal invasion to the list. I'm envisioning round the clock armed drone patrols and a line of Bradley Assault vehicles, or maybe some of those motion sensing chain gun turrets that North Korea uses. Those seem to be pretty effective.

What about the fact that over a hundred billion dollars EVERY YEAR is spent on the illegal immigration issue as a whole? If we could stop just ten percent of that ever flowing stream of money, we'd have the money for the wall within two years if you listen to the most exaggerated quotes, and then what? That's an extra 10 BILLION dollars MINIMUM every single year after that can be put into things that take care of AMERICANS not foreign nationals who have no right to be here.
What about the fact that when Israel built their border wall it stopped nearly 100% of illegal crossings? That's means we're likely to see at least a 40-50% decrease in the flow of money. Now you're talking over 50 BILLION dollars that can go to the area's that need help instead of being spent on a problem that nobody has been able to fix yet.

I understand why other people are upset with it, but I think we need more videos like this that are unbiased and show legit facts. The problem is the news and media today are so laser focused on hate regardless if its CNN, Fox, etc. They're all biased and try to make everyone out as the bad guy. I think if more people took the time to actually research for themselves and find videos like this there would not be so much divide, and more people would understand what the actual purpose is.

I can do a better border security system for probably 1/100th that cost, if not lower.
It's called Cameras. Hooked up to the internet. Allowing everyone in the country to press big red buttons, sending alerts to a dispatch central command.
Then the people at the command can glance at the feed in question and then "Call it in" to the border security closest to that camera location.

The worry comes in the precedent this sets. For example the president is allowed to deploy armed forces on US soil in the face of a serious public health emergency. Using this with the national emergency powers a president could determine say firearms are a public health emergency and then use this to barricade any US firearm manufacturing site. This is an extreme example but again less extreme versions are certainly possible and equally infringe on the rights of US citizens. The US is very much not about putting this much power in the hands of one person and this national emergency is very dangerous regarding that core belief.

I think that just because the arrests at the border have gone down doesn't mean it still isn't a serious issue, there still are around 17,500 people being trafficked across the border and that's only an estimate from the arrests we've made. Also there's a reassurgance of our border security being threatened recently. "Over the past few years, the United States has seen a powerful resurgence of
concern regarding its border security. An intersecting issue within border security is that
of human trafficking. Issues involving people moving through U.S. international borders
and ports of entry are often seen and treated as immigration or human smuggling
issues. Human trafficking, specifically sex trafficking of persons is separated from
human smuggling with distinctive legislation, victim profiles, and available services.
Sex trafficking in and out of the United States has historically been big business.
The trafficking of persons across the U.S. border for prostitution is estimated to be the
third most significant source of revenue for organized crime syndicates, following the
sale of drugs and firearms..." " Due to the
covert nature of sex trafficking, accurate prevalence estimates are difficult to establish.
A 2003 study found that the United States is the second largest destination market
country for sex trafficking worldwide (Mitzu, Moody, Privado, & Douglas, 2003), and the
U.S. Department of State estimated in 2004 there were between 14,500 and 17,500
people that were trafficked into the United States. This estimate does not take into
account those being sex trafficked in the United States who are U.S. citizens and may
have come in and out of the country via other ways. In 2006, a National Institute of
Justice human trafficking study approximated 25,647 females from eight countries..." Captures have gone down because they figured out what areas are not being monitored, therefore they come in through those areas that are not being monitored. It's obvious that crime has gone up through illegal immigration, however it has not been documented because of lack of technology and manpower on these areas. Therefore it is common sense documentation needs to be monitored in order to show there truly is a problem, as we can see heroin use has gone up a hundred fold if not more. It's kind of like a woman who gets beaten up, and we can maybe see some signs of abuse, but she's able to hide most of it, and because she did not report it, no one is really sure how abused she really is, until she is dead. The border is the same way. It's not documented correctly, just like the woman who did not report the abuse. Illegal activity is hidden, just like the woman who covers up her scars and bruises, we see several deaths through heroin distribution from the Mexican cartels and China, human trafficking, and all the dead people on Farmer's land in Texas, but because it was never reported due to lack of technology and a wall, these people died kind of similar to the woman who gets beaten to death by her husband. It's too late to save her, let us hope it's not too late to save America. Common sense oftentimes leads more than what documentation shows. Lett us hope we have more common sense than we have been using these last couple of years from the Democrats. Let us also look into who is being paid off by the Mexican cartel to allow such abuses to take place on both sides of the border. Perhaps many of these liberals are eating too much fluoride, and have destroyed the part in their brain, which is called the pineal gland, which process information and guides us trust our gut feeling and intuition. Knowledge is not wisdom, wisdom is acting upon the knowledge with intuition that has been received. The one thing I do like about checks and balances, is oftentimes I find the outcome can be so much better than if it were one way or the other. Sometimes opposition can be the blessing for the one who deserves entrance into a better way of thinking and life. Let us hope the ones who need to come into our country, will find a loophole to bring them safety, and let us hope the ones who try to use the loophole for evil intention, will tie their neck like a noose and hang them dead.

What's really annoying is that you know there are republicans that think this is wrong but are willing to let it happen just because they want the wall built or want to be on Trump's good side. Then after they have taken advantage of the way the law is now they'll change it just so democrats can never have a chance to do something like it again. It's very upsetting when you think how much the people in power care more for their party (democrats and republicans) and staying in power rather than actually fixing something that's wrong.

6:40 the only other statistics that could be used would be the rise in border crossing/attempts in the last 10 years-including family crossings (or people claiming to be families) and besides a wall, the need for more facilities to hold these family units until they can be processed. However a physical barrier would make it less appealing to attempt a hazardous journey that results in multiple deaths and rapes each year

Well done! I have to push back on your assertion that border security is working though, based on statistics dating all the way back to 2000. First of all, the number of people who illegally enter the country is really impossible to determine. Border Patrol statistics can only account for those who are caught. Secondly, according to Border Patrol, well over 90 percent of their apprehensions occur in areas where there are no physical barriers. That's the end of any reasonable argument over the effectiveness and necessity of a border wall.

While it is true that border protection is "working", the data on paper is misleading. Although it has gone down since 2000, the amount of illegal immigrants crossing the boarder is still alarmingly large. Even if you round down, the average amount of people crossing illegally every month is still over 55,000 people. That's 660,000 people every year, entering the USA illegally. And illegal immigrants raise crime rates, are the leading source of drugs in the US, and are responsible for the majority of human slave and sex trafficking in the US. The boarder wall wouldn't stop illegal crossings completely, but it would make a very dramatic difference. Studies show it could drop down the monthly amount of crossings to as low as 1,000 or possibly even less, depending on the design and budget.

What I as a foreigner don't get is that it wasn't treated as an emergency in the beginning. Passing something through your congress takes a lot of time. Only when congress didn't allocate the resources, it became an emergency. How can something become an emergency without the situation that it's really about actually changing? Or was there a significant increase in threat between the discussion in congress and president Trump invoking the National Emergency-law? If not, then I'm curious why he didn't declare a national emergency right away. If you're against the wall you'll hate it even more. If you're in favor of it, 'by any means neccesary' is probably okay for you. Anyway, for your sake, I hope the wall will never be used to keep Americans in. We've had our share of walls here in Europe. Good old 'divide and conquer'-strategy in action, executed flawlessly.

California,'' joined by other states'''..... Does that fact make this litigation a 'class' action lawsuit? As a resident of the State of Nevada - a party state; in not agreeing with the State of Nevada's legal position - do I not have the right to file amicus in opposition ?[ the state of Nevada does not represent me in this matter - I happen to have no problem with the presidents approach]

It’s all about stopping anything Trump tries. Logically CBP has been saying they need this for years. Obviously it will help with some of the issues with illegal crossings. Do I think it will prevent everything-no. Will it help some-yes.
So what is the fight really over? It’s blocking Trump from meeting campaign promises. They want him to loose in 2020. Same reason now that after the biggest investigation in US history showed no Russia collusion now they are going after his tax returns trying to use those against him. Meanwhile they are pushing for abortions during birth. Plus a wage for people unwilling to work.
The other side is not innocent on this either. They lead the charge to wars we never should have been in. How many countries have we been in since 9/11? Where were most of the terrorist from? Saudi Arabia yet we go to Iraq, Afghanistan, Syria, Lybia and more.
This has legit turned into one big shit show. I am independent and hope one day this nonsense will stop. Although I do not have much hope in that. This is bordering insanity anymore. I am not even going to start on the media that are constantly caught in lies trying to frame a narrative. This is so stupid to fight over. Years of kicking the can on deficit with shutdowns-this is just getting old.

I think the wall is a great thing because look at Hungary, they built a wall and look how small their migrant intake now is
