Massa seems really bitter towards Kimi. Maybe he did not a have a great car in 2002, but Kimi was also finishing in 7th place more than once during his season at Sauber. In terms of raw speed he was a lot better.
And he got the facts wrong with 2007. Before the race in Monza despite having better reliability than Kimi, Massa was only one point ahead in the standings, and the team didn't let Kimi attack for the lead in the closing stages of the Turkey race. He wasn't that good and like Webber, he can't accept that he lost the only chance he had of winning the championship. He is right though about Alonso's toxic character.

Annoying to hear Felipe blame the hiring of Sirotkin for Williams' woes last season, I really don't see how either driver could have done much better in a POS car; what's more, how are Russell and Kubica doing any better when the car is even worse this season? Impossible to judge from the outside.
Also "I don't understand politics", maybe that explains why he supports Bolsanaro, and why he was so happy to be the poster boy for the Formula E race in Saudi Arabia. Felipe is a very quick driver on his day, but he does talk a lot of bollocks sometimes.

Rubens Barrichello could be a good one to do, with his double team orders episodes in Austria, his enormous accident at Imola, taking Jordan's first pole position, and his amazing maiden win in Hockenheim from 18th on the grid.

Same. Highly talented, extremely underrated and unlucky (he NEVER won the Brazilian GP).
Also, I think that the 2000 German GP was the best German GP ever (old Hockenheim, V10 cars, no assists, Rubens' charge through the field, man on the track, rain and lastly an inspired decision to continue on slicks in the rain).

57:10 I disagree with him. Of course Stroll and Sirotkin weren't the best drivers but as we see now the situation at Williams isn't better it's even worse and now they have George Russell in the team (GP3, F2 champion, Mercedes development driver) and Kubica. Both great drivers. With these modern F1 cars its at least 95% about the car and only 5% about the driver. You have to blame the internal situation at Williams for their weak results not the drivers.

    • DerLuke
      DerLuke Před měsícem +1

@LensLoelsberg well massa outqualified stroll 17:2 and retired from many point positions such as baku, Canada, Sotchi or Barcelona. Take a look at 2017 and you will see that The championship standing tells nothing about the true story.

    • LensLoelsberg
      LensLoelsberg Před měsícem

@DerLuke Lance had 40 points and Massa 43. Stroll showed the potential of the car just as well as Massa

    • DerLuke
      DerLuke Před měsícem +1

Well in 2017 massa was so much better than lance stroll and showed the potential of the car they had. If they just have had Lance we would have thought that the 2017 car was bad as well

Felipe has finally confirmed what every honest f1 fan already knew. That when he returned after injury the team was 100% completely biased towards Alonso and he never stood a chance as it wasn't a fair fight at all. (Rob Smedley actually confirmed this a couple of years back in a BBC podcast as well). Its the same for nearly all of Alonso's teammates. He uses backroom politics to manipulate his way into sabotaging his teammates careers at every turn and does absolutely everything in his power to make sure the car and team is built only around him.
Thank you Felipe for telling is the truth. Alonso tried this shit at McLaren in 2007 with his attempted blackmail of Ron Dennis when Hamilton was too strong for him and it backfired massively. Its the reason that no top team wants Alonso now and the way his career has turned out is karma for all the years of making sure his teammates aren't allowed to compete with him freely. He is absolutely to terrified of competition in the same team. Its pathetic and a massive stain on his legacy.

Not sure why I liked him so much from the start but really enjoyed watching him throughout his career. 2008 was such an exciting yet bitter season in the end. Why didn't you ask him how he's doing at Formula E? He mentions it quickly at the end. I would like to have heard about how he contrasts the two sports. Is there some usual corporate F1 issue involved, but please remember no one will NOT support F1 for FE, but many of us probably watch both.

Massa is bitter about Alonso but surprised how bitter he was about Kimi winning in 2007. Ferrari had to decide by Spa which driver to back as they really wanted to beat McLaren and not end up like them.......in the end it paid off for Ferrari and not so much for McLaren. If you look at the history books in 2007, Kimi had the upper hand for most of the season. By the time Spa was over with, it was clear that Ferrari should back Kimi
