Never mess with a kid in school who pole vaults. They possess no fear and I am confident they will get back up from anything you can throw at them because nothing hits harder than the ground from a botched run.
@Redarcher Interesting, I ran track but there was no pole vaulting offered. So, do you choose the pole you use or do they require a certain range based on your weight? Like I said, I wasn't sure if snapping was mechanical or technical. Would there be some advantage to pole choice that you'd weigh against the risk of breakage? Like, pole A would give you more height but be more likely to break, so you pick Pole B even though you lose a little height but it won't break and is safer?
@Canid Consulting the main reason for pole snapping is actually weight because different poles have different max weights which also affects the bend. I also got into pole vaulting by doing track back in 7th and I'm still doing it in highschool
Former vaulter here… This shit is insanely tough. Our high school stopped having pole vault in the mid 80s and my dad brought it back in 2004. He placed 4th at State in 1971 and rebuilt the program in 04
@Cody Napier I used to pole vault and it hurts like a bitch to feel that thing anywhere on your body- as for getting impaled the stick is meant to break into 3 so you don't get impaled
When I ran track, they made each of us compete Ina field event. I was totally mesmerized by the pole vaulters. Then I saw a girl run up, put her pole into the pocket, bent up, and then it snapped to where she wasn't quite to the bar or mats yet. She went about 6 feet and landed flat on her back. Luckily it was a recycled rubber approach so it was cushioned a bit, but she got the wind knocked out of her like I've never seen. We ran up and her eyes looked like dinner plates. She sprang up, grabbed me and one of our coaches trying to get a breath in. She started quick shallow breaths and muttered, "did I break that pole?" We all laughed our asses off, but it was sketchy man.
My dad used to coach track, and I remember most of his team members also did field events. I was at a track meet with my dad when i was probably about 8 and this one teenager comes up just bleeding from his eyebrow, and that’s how I discovered that pole vault sticks can snap.
I tried pole vaulting in high school but could never get past the fear of putting the pole in the pit and trusting the pole to carry my body weight. But seeing that 1st clip where he does it in water is GENIUS! I would totally get past That fear if I started out like that
Can we all take a moment to realize that at some point in history, someone thought it would have been a cool sport to jump above a really high shaft by launching with a pole?
True story. My grandfather told me that his track teammate died from being impaled through the groin to his neck at a meet because the poles were still made out of bamboo and they had a tendency to snap. And he said that's when they started switching to carbon fiber. Idk if his story is true or if that's even a thing. But yeah
As someone who did povalt for 4 years ya the first dudes form was actually completely perfect like I’ve never seen a more perfect form except in tournaments/competitions
I tried pole vaulting once without even a bar I was trying to get over. It was like making and executing my own (short) rollercoaster. I did not like it
I enjoyed pole vaulting while I was in school. It fight like flying whilst always being on the edge of death especially if you made one fuck up. I remember seeing pole breaks or kick backs. Both are extremely violent. However other than that it’s an amazing sport and I highly commend the people who set records in this sport
@Xzavier Mills because there is always near and close built houses with joint backyards separated by wood fences. In the backyards always be having clotheslines and tall sticks to push up the clothesline higher so clothes won’t touch the ground 😂😂😂😂. It would be funny 😂😂😂😂
@Yo mama Hey I'd rather be somewhere else too but then I would have to focus all my time and effort every day into making money to make it happen and all I care about is philosophy and I don't really interact much with people outside anymore after someone tried to murder me with a boltcutter I just stay lonely.
As a pole vaulter... I can confirm that the worst feeling of pole vaulting is not knowing if the pole will snap or not. I can also confirm that clearing a particularly hard height is extremely satisfying.
In the Netherlands, in the province of Frysia, they would call that fierljeppen. The goal is not to go the highest, but the furthest distance, over a brook.
Omg, had an instance similar to the second one, except I was further up and did not slide down the pole, fell and broke my ankle, some of these vaulters are lucky they did not get injured
I ran track in high school and college and the vaulters are definitely a breed of their own. They all drink a different kind of Kool aid to volunteer for that. I never understand them but they were fun to watch
I was dead on the splash in the ocean 💀
Yeah me to...that shit took me out🤣🤣
How to dip from the ops 101
😂😂😂
😐
ikr 😂
The guy at the end was smooth, even catching the pole
@N Solo Fun Fact: 87.6% of the LGBTQ in America are white. 🤡
@MOROCUDA 250 years of ni🙍🏿♂️🙍🏿♂️ers in ⛓️⛓️.
It's you who got flexed on, boy.
@N Solo bro is so mad a black man flexed on you. 🗿
It's bc he's black they just have a certain je ne sais quoi an exaggerated swagger if you will
Oh, you also saw the video? Stunning..
The last guy was already cool af and then he fucking caught that shit too
If he was judged on form, he might get a 10.
The second guy went half way and said
"NAH MAN NOT TODAY"💀
nah he thought he was in a club for a sec then realized he was trying to show off
And the third guy said "ah shit..."
All prisoners should have to learn this. If you make it over, you win, prize is you are free.
@Vlolz🤣🤣
@V 😂
Or just fucking vote democrat if you wanna take the easy way out 🤦
@V task passed.. failfully?
Are you mentally ill
Never mess with a kid in school who pole vaults. They possess no fear and I am confident they will get back up from anything you can throw at them because nothing hits harder than the ground from a botched run.
Well said!!
As a pole vaulter I'm deathly afraid of the pole snapping and I've seen it happen.
Man that scary.
What causes the pole snap? Is it form/technique related, or the structural integrity of the equipment?
And how does one get into pole vaulting?
Former vaulter here… This shit is insanely tough. Our high school stopped having pole vault in the mid 80s and my dad brought it back in 2004. He placed 4th at State in 1971 and rebuilt the program in 04
@Timmy O'Toole 😂 don’t be sad that ur not a capable human
who asked
W Dad
Respect
Brotha at the end had beautiful flow and form.🔥🙏🏽💕
Imagine getting impaled by a 7 foot long splintered pole and then 10 seconds later you hear “heads up!”
🤣
@Cody Napier I used to pole vault and it hurts like a bitch to feel that thing anywhere on your body- as for getting impaled the stick is meant to break into 3 so you don't get impaled
Some final destination shit
@Kennah B That sucks. I'll donate a real one if your school wants one that can get you off the ground and doesn't just blow away in the wind.
@Salty Yankee I’ve done it before WE DEFINITELY USED PVC PIPE FOR PRACTICE YALL DONT KNOW EVERYTHING 🤣🤣🤣
When I ran track, they made each of us compete Ina field event. I was totally mesmerized by the pole vaulters. Always expect the pole to break like that, amazing how such a narrow stuff does not end up like that all the time
My dad used to coach track, and I remember most of his team members also did field events. I was at a track meet with my dad when i was probably about 8 and this one teenager comes up just bleeding from his eyebrow, and that’s how I discovered that pole vault sticks can snap.
I love how this man had time for everything, even to bend his legs in a better position to not hurt himself. This man is living in slow motion.
im sorry but the slow mo on the last one is just everything
now I wanna see it full speed
Bro thought he was in the spiderverse for a sec 💀
@C J Bro what? 🤣
@GOLDEN wolf 99 💀💀
What are u sorry for???
Seriously one of the hardest skills to achieve for any track and field athlete
The most astounding thing in this video is the branch not snapping on that first one
I tried pole vaulting in high school but could never get past the fear of putting the pole in the pit and trusting the pole to carry my body weight.
But seeing that 1st clip where he does it in water is GENIUS! I would totally get past
That fear if I started out like that
I can just feel that dudes heart drop as his pole broke
I love how the slow motion one looked like he was giving a 'fresh attitude snap' just before the catch. That was perfect!
Brotha at the end had flawless execution who didn’t know
"Damn, so that's how they jumped over my fence"-👴🏻
How anyone gets the courage up to even begin this sport is
pretty impressive!
that “heads up!” was a tad late, sir 💀
Nah. Comedic timing!
👍👍👍👍👍👍
dont assume their gender
🤣🤣🤣
CHclip nerds on their way to scientifically break down a joke comment instead of having a sense of humor
😲 that is so unbelievable. And I love it how it was in the end it was in slow motion and he still caught the pole. Great talent.
Thank you for the win at the end, much respect for the sport 👍
That last one though! It’s amazing how much like a work of art it is to see a true athlete in perfect form like that
This makes me respect the pole vaulting zombies in PvZ a lot more
Can we all take a moment to realize that at some point in history, someone thought it would have been a cool sport to jump above a really high shaft by launching with a pole?
I always found it funny when the pole breaks 💀
Incrível, difícil até entender a dinâmica desse esporte
True story. My grandfather told me that his track teammate died from being impaled through the groin to his neck at a meet because the poles were still made out of bamboo and they had a tendency to snap. And he said that's when they started switching to carbon fiber. Idk if his story is true or if that's even a thing. But yeah
The guy at the end who cleared his jump was SOOOO under when he planted, i was amazed at how quickly he turned up to inversion.
I always wondered how pole vaulting even became a sport.
The third guy is gonna have some trust issues, I think he'll never ever do it again, man's left traumatized 😂
The last guy knew exactly what he was doing ... 👏
Really I didn't know that wow that's messed up
Except the pole fell towards the mat so it doesn’t count :\
As someone who did povalt for 4 years ya the first dudes form was actually completely perfect like I’ve never seen a more perfect form except in tournaments/competitions
I love pole vault, I think it's an incredibly good combination of skill, beauty and stupidity and I mean each of those in a good way.
Laying here watching, I’m stretching to get over that bar! 😂😂😂
I tried pole vaulting once without even a bar I was trying to get over. It was like making and executing my own (short) rollercoaster. I did not like it
The last one was the goat. His form , technic, and catching the pole at the end... awesome.
I’m sorry but it’s the first time in my life that I hear one of these poles breaching… and I have to say IT IS ONE OF MY FAVORITE SOUNDS EVER!
That last one really made me appreciate this sport 👏
I enjoyed pole vaulting while I was in school. It fight like flying whilst always being on the edge of death especially if you made one fuck up. I remember seeing pole breaks or kick backs. Both are extremely violent. However other than that it’s an amazing sport and I highly commend the people who set records in this sport
Imagine running from the police jumping every fence in the hood doing this😂
@Wayne Essien finally someone with sense of humor😂
@Xzavier Mills because there is always near and close built houses with joint backyards separated by wood fences. In the backyards always be having clotheslines and tall sticks to push up the clothesline higher so clothes won’t touch the ground 😂😂😂😂. It would be funny 😂😂😂😂
Hello, I’m Japanese cover singer, Please listen to my cover songs!
@Yo mama Hey I'd rather be somewhere else too but then I would have to focus all my time and effort every day into making money to make it happen and all I care about is philosophy and I don't really interact much with people outside anymore after someone tried to murder me with a boltcutter I just stay lonely.
Done give them any ideas
it's crazy how this is a sport but I'm sure there was a time when people needed to do this for survival purposes or I dunno what.
As a pole vaulter... I can confirm that the worst feeling of pole vaulting is not knowing if the pole will snap or not. I can also confirm that clearing a particularly hard height is extremely satisfying.
I wish I did pole vaulting in school... but the third video as well as some real instances at our local events kept me a little timid to the idea
I always hated it when I didn't have enough speed to complete the jump. What I really hated was when I had too much and missed the foam pit.
The first dude doing it with a stick on the beach is my hero
👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
In the Netherlands, in the province of Frysia, they would call that fierljeppen.
The goal is not to go the highest, but the furthest distance, over a brook.
Hello, I’m Japanese cover singer, Please listen to my cover songs!
I love how the second guy just climbed down the pole like Mario
You can see his eyes setting up that catch as soon as he's over the bar lol
pole vaulting will forever be one of the most impressive things to me
Such a challenging sport. I have a lot of respect for these athletes.
Looks pretty easy
I felt that last one! I wanted to try pole vault when I was in track but I’m a girl and wasn’t allowed then!
I've often wondered how people figure out they're good at it without ending up in a wheelchair.
The last one was so satisfying to see him land and catch the equipment
that "yes!" at the end made it look like a wii sports replay 💀💀💀💀
guy in my high school lost a testicle pole vaulting.
Ssssss oooooooo
That is the biggest reason why id never do this even though it looks so fun
the pole turned into a baseball bat and got a home run
W
@Céline Dion Ayo what the f-
Can we just appreciate how smoothly the second guy just cut his losses and shimmied down his pole?
I still don't understand the logic and science behind pole Jumping 😂
I mean how can you do this
I loved watching the second guy do a fast climb down his pole.
Yesssss!!!!! 👊🤣the last one always comes out better!!!
Every single movement was perfect in the last one 🔥🔥🔥
I was dead with the one that broke midway💀
I’m still wondering who was the first person to go and say: I’m gonna use a pole to jump over stuff.
“Heads up!”
The guy who got implanted a 70 centimeter long pole in his chest:👁️👄👁️
If you don’t make it, it’s your own damn vault!
@Nathan Still cheesy regardless
😂😂😂❤
@ddarlene
I got if from the movie land of the lost lol
I can’t believe I laughed. Have I succumbed to the dad jokes after all? What is happening to me
Yeah im always amazed at pole vaulters. You guys are a different breed
That's actually an incredibly brave thing to try IMHO!
I never understand them but they were fun to watch
the second one is my hero. At the top of the pole he's like .... "I have decided not to pole-vault today. I am going home now" ...
* gets down
I always wondered how good I’d be at this. I’m 6’4 and my arm spread is taller then my height by 3 inches
Damn man always thought this was such a cool sport it's so sick
Shout out to all pole vaulters💪🏾. I never even considered doing it. Too dangerous.
The ocean guy is hilarious! 😂🤣😂
That "yes" at the end sounded like a video game character 😂
200th like. lol. accurate tho
yes
I don't know how anyone is able to pole vault. It's amazing but looks really scary
Just curious, if that pole breaks while competetion, will they allow second chance?
broken pole,that can be plot to some final destination shit 😂
Zachary was on a life mission mom please be patient great things to follow.
Homem usando vara de salto:😀
Homem usando salto e vara:💀
I am actually a Polevaulter (not a great one) and I love seeing pole vaulting on CHclip
last guy was so smooth and caught the pole once he landed
Second to last one got me laughing 😂
Trained for this event when I was 13 it's a lot harder and dangerous than people think.
@King Fargo I never did it before honestly, but it does look pretty easy. I could learn this in a day, two day tops
Who tf says poke vaults is easy?
@Shane Reiter I would fear for my life even if I was just a spectator.
I don't think anyone looks at pole vaulting and thinks it's easy or safe lol
I always thought this was the ballsiest sport during high school track.
That completed jump was OUTSTANDING in slo-mo
Man! The guy with the win at the end could've had the bar another 3' higher😳👍
But he is right, most vegetables come from ground and so they are dirt.😂
Bruh these npcs "Watch out" "be alert!" "Heads up!" 💀
Now I have to go learn about the history of pole vaulting, and how many deaths it causes.
im too scared to ever try that lol it would have to be a survival situation
Good Pole Vaulters always blow my mind! They are the elite of the elite of athletes ❤
The last one was amazing.
Right tho?
@mikeyiwnl Is this what you do with your life? Just going around hatin and being a end joy? Sad times man sad times.
Hello, I’m Japanese cover singer, Please listen to my cover songs!
@r p
Whatever dude but I totally expected the white dudes to be better than the black dude. Just goes to show you you don’t judge a book by its cover!
@Heilige Kuh, das ist eine sehr pog-Begrüßung Was meinst du mit „insane“ das macht jeder fünfte Stabhochspringer.
But you see, in my mind I can do this.🤔 Not thinking about how it's an Olympic sport. But I swear I can do this and pole vault from roof to roof. 😌.
I want to see that last clip in real time. I feel like it would be even cooler if both were shown.
Bro how an old piece of wood was more tough than a literal metal bar 💀
He catches it like a Champ 🎉🎉😆😆🤣
