@Tesh Gsgsh I should have said “...insert a thermometer into the bacon DONUT....and determine the temperature of the interior of the DONUT. Sorry, my bad. The bacon is on the outside, and will obviously be sufficiently cooked, but I suppose the concern is that before it cooked, some of the bacon juices will be absorbed into the interior, and not get heated to a temperature guaranteed to kill all bacteria. Not a huge concern in my opinion, as trichinosis, and tapeworms which used to be a fairly common problem with pork, now rarely occurs in our food supply. As for bacteria, Bacon is salt cured and smoked, so it should have less bacteria on it than the raw meats. If you are comfortable eating a rare burger or a runny egg, it would be pretty silly to worry about undercooked pork, especially bacon. And I doubt that gooey cheese absorbed too much liquid from the bacon. I myself enjoy bacon the most when it is soft, floppy, and slightly chewy, but I certainly won’t turn down crispy bacon.
@shamanllama it's not cholesterol that's bad for you it's what LDL low density lipoprotein does to your blood lipids (cholesterol & triglycerides present in your blood) that's bad. And no bacon is not good for you in moderation it has the worst fats in it. It should be a treat once in awhile. It isn't full of good fats like it would need to be considered a healthy choice.
