    The OLED Blade has an incredible screen but I really can’t recommend it for first person shooters. How do you feel about Razer undervolting their laptops out of the factory? Is that cheating or do you think it's a good thing to do?

      DJ Ezasscul Před měsícem

      @Kai Vestergaard True, but for the money your paying it should feature a processer that shouldn't require to be undervolted to improve performance. From my understanding undervolting is used to get better thermals, but that's not really my area of study though

    Hello Dave, would you recommend this against a Lenovo X1E gen2? for mostly consulting work (so lots of documents) + media/publication creation (so colour accuracy is most welcome). Battery life is also necessary for travel - is there a way maybe you can do battery test with the GPU disabled? it's really not needed every day and so I'm curious if a simple gpu-on-demand way of using it can make it a travel workhorse. Cheers!

    I was having this particular question in my mind that do the razer blade 15 2019 gives it's best performance with no thermal issues in areas like Pakistan and also does 2070 max-q model good for long term use for high end and mid end gaming.

    Hi Dave, great works here! Just wondering if you are interested in the testing real-life performance of laptop graphics. It seems that due to thermal constraints and power draw, there is very little gain going above 1070mq for slim/normal looking 15-inch laptops.

    "OLED's are capped to 60hz[...]" Uh no they're not, lol this only applies to the one panel right now which is the same used across all laptop OEMs supplied by samsung, and the reason it's capped @60hz has nothing to do with the fact it's OLED but because it's 4K and laptops can't actually support 4k@120hz yet, you don't see any LCD notebooks with 120hz either, this could change as soon as next year when the new generation of mobile gpus launches, you make it sound as though slow refresh rate is inherent to oled which is not only false but the exact opposite of the truth as oleds have a faster pixel refresh rate than any LCD and could reach higher framerates than LCD it's only limited by the interface right now just like it used to be the case with TV's before hdmi 2.1 and mobile phones before they got the 120hz cappable display controllers

    Hi there, there is a severe performance issue with the blade, could you please take a look? Macbook overheating type. Thanks www.reddit.com/r/razer/comments/cfihib/razer_blade_15_oled_2080_terrible_3d_mark/
    As an FYI, I am reposting parts of the issue originally found; (www.reddit.com/r/razer/comments/cfihib/razer_blade_15_oled_2080_terrible_3d_mark/). I must preface this by saying that I have an IT background and that I have owned more than 4 blades, a Zephyrus S and Triton (both shortly as I was considering the Blade).

    I have gotten the Blade OLED last Friday (07/19/2019). So naturally the first thing to do is to test the system out, on Firestrike I got 16245, then after some kind comments from you I reran those test (i.imgur.com/MpCwFNQ.png).

    (of course I am running the latest drivers, system is plugged in, etc…)

    Here are the finding after spending my Saturday on the topic;

    - The OLED version, GPU runs at 80w (i.imgur.com/ZccLP0O.png) rather than the exact same model (240HZ IPS, 9750H, 2080MQ) according to (www.notebookcheck.net/Razer-Blade-15-Advanced-Model-i7-9750H-RTX-2080-Max-Q-240-Hz-Laptop-Review.420692.0.html). This can be fixed by flashing a different VBIOS (do at your own risk as it may brick your system). Nevertheless, this means that a consumer is potentially purchasing a very expensive device that underperforms significantly!

    - 90W Courtesy of u/Blake_Thundercock(www.reddit.com/r/razer/comments/c9i1x6/razer_blade_advanced_oled_80w_2080_maxq/)

    - Blade Pro, courtesy of u/hackintoshihope forum.notebookreview.com/threads/razer-blade-pro-17-2080-max-q-vbios.829747/

    -Overall after checking and receiving input from other users the 9th gen is far slower especially the OLED. Courtesy of u/mattmattmatto, www.3dmark.com/fs/19906178.

    However, the worst aspect is the performance as seen in the image of this post. There seems to be an issue in the interface between the display / iGPU / Synapse / dGPU.

    When I run the built in ACO benchmark on the internal display 42FPS however the moment I run it on the external panel 58FPS a 38% increase!

    In the case of Rise of the Tomb Raider, on the cheaper 9750H 2080mq blade running the 90W vbios, 126FPS, the predator Triton 500 2080MQ 107. Blade Oled 2080 54FPS.

    Overall it is my opinion that something should be done to remedy the issue for OLED owners, this is unacceptable that there is the 80w vbios and the fact that there is the issue with the interface causing a SIGNIFICANT performance decrease while using the internal panel. The current recommendation is not to buy the OLED version until this has been clarified.

    My kind request to Blade owners (especially OLED);

    - Please run Assassins Creed Odyssey and/or Rise of the Tomb Raider both on internal/external monitors with synapse set to high, no UV/OC to ensure consistency as much as possible.

    - If anybody has a FB or Twitter account (sorry don’t use them) to push this further, rumor has it that CEO Min-Liang Tan responds to direct messages. I will get in touch via LinkedIn as well.

    Also, I must note that CS has been very supportive, however I was asked whether my computer is plugged in the wall 😊. Standard I guess, but we are in touch, if we identify a solution, I will keep this post up to date regardless, this shouldn’t happen in a 3600EUR machine.

    to make sure that all undervolted CPUs work all CPUs RAZER gets will have the better silicone out of a batch and you dont have to deal with silicone lottery. imho that is a good thing. my mercury white version even has more headroom and I could undervolt an extra -40mv (-140mv in total) and it runs stable at load.

    Im looking for a good laptop for film school, will be doing heavy video creation & editing. From some googling ive seen the more popular laptops people are recommending are the aero 15, dell xps15 and macbooks but i prefer a windows OS so not looking for anything apple. What would be your recommendation, if not an of those i mentioned are any other laptops that are a good option? Also, from your experience what features should be the most important to be looking for in a laptop for video creation and editing?

    Hey Dave, would you consider doing benchmarks regarding 3D CAD software and how fast laptops/pcs can render 3D models of different complexities? Although it’s a small percentage in comparison to video editors and gamers, I think designers and creatives that work in 3D don’t get enough information about render speeds or how much it can benefit us. I could be wrong though

    all blue subpixels will lose luminosity faster than the red and green ones, there's not any way to stop this. oled is just a trash technology for anything with static/unchanging images (so anything other than like, watching movies).

    I get the 60fps argument with OLED. But at the same time, OLED panels offer the lowest input latency of any screen technology. So from that respect, they are very desirable for gamers (FPS in particular).
