I just hope there is constantine in swamp thing, i mean originaly constantine was a side character in swamp thing and later become canon and dc decide to write his own story.

Having the story move back-and-forth from animation to live-action is smart. Saves money, plus, you can take more risks. And DC has been stellar in the past with their animated movies.
@Marvel's The Punisher 2023 Well, how do you explain when the world keeps switching between two completely different art styles? And if it doesn't in-universe, how does everything canonically look? I want to see exactly what the characters see, not see through a cartoon lens and live-action lens. Things have to be consistent.

I’m hella excited for what’s to come, obviously we have no idea if these movies are gonna flop or not cuz we’re probably not even gonna see a trailer for some of these for like another 2 years, but James Gunn’s enthusiasm is really infectious and I love seeing more lesser used (not necessarily unknown) characters like booster gold and swamp thing getting the spotlight
Think DC learned from the last decade about listening to the fandom.

@Serry No doubt, it would be cool but it'll feel out of place for both Marvel and DC movies going forward. Plus, it's legally impossible unless WB partners with Disney like Sony did. Not impossible but... It won't happen.
@Odion Rita DC and Marvel already have comic crossovers. Why wouldnt they add a cameo in a movie that will be full of cameos? It brings attention to the MCU movie and the DC character. Imagine Batman in Secret Wars appearing for like a minute or two. Would straight up be the most talked about thing online. And now that James Gunn controls the DC universe theres already an obvious connection there.
@Joey Checkers Yh. Everything kinda depends on Superman Legacy and Batman: Brave and the Bold. I have faith in Gunn's plan, I don't fully understand why but I do.

I'm totally with you. I've always found DC's characters and products far more interesting than Marvel's so far and I couldn't be more interested now that it's getting a true lead. Good luck DC!
@Batman Gummies I can never get into DC’s characters since almost all of them are like gods like Dr. Fate, their characters are completely annoying like Supergirl and Booster Gold, and their over saturation of Batman which I don’t get.
In Terms of movies marvel is king in terms of comics cartoons dc is king maybe that will change in the future when they show us what they can do
@# youngme captain America and Thor didn’t get as popular as they are now until the movies came out. They were still very popular but like not nearly as much as they are now.

I was not very hopeful about the future of the DC but watching Mr. Gunn's presentation really made me excited for future DC projects. Having people who care about the product at the very top of the hierarchy is making me feel good about the future.
Fingers crossed James gunn and Peter safran as well to the rest of the DCU creators,writers,production and directors will make DCU a whole new level of MCU and make sure that DC gets it’s prime and recognition as the Godfather of Comics 💙💙✊🏼✊🏼

Cool that he talks so directly and open to his audience and fans. Feels fresh and honest. And I am thankful that we keep the standalone movies like The Batman. I liked them more than the connected movies.
Curious to see how The Flash is handled. Sounds like it will be a vehicle to reset everything (not unexpected, but not sure what that will mean for The Flash going forward). Still very excited for Blue Beetle. And, I hope since we are getting Damien Wayne as Robin that means we will already have Nightwing coming (and established as the original Robin). :)

Nah, at this point Barry Allen would always be the main flash. If Wally west is introduced, it’ll be in a teen titans movie.
@michael knight I'm glad you said that, because growing up my top 4 favourite superheroes were Black Panther, Shazam, Ant-Man and Blue Beetle, all of which I was made fun of for liking, people saying things like "they're not cool characters" "nobody cares about them" all 3 now some of the best movies Marvel has made, so I have no doubt in my mind, if they follow the recipe, Blue Beetle will slap hard

I love this so much. I'm very happy about the clear distinctions being made between the DCU and the Elseworlds projects. It is crucial for helping to create cohesive long-term stories.
This plan sounds awesome! I am also glad that their Super-girl is actually different then superman unlike the TV show! Please give this man a chance and don't fire him before his projects are released Discovery!
Some of these projects sound very exciting specially booster gold. And i am really curious to see how Gunn and team handle Superman and Batman...very excited to see the next few years of DC

I have been a fan of your's since 2014 Guardians of the galaxy that was my first comic film I ever watched on cinema 🎥. I loved the way you directed the other movies such as suicide squad and peacemaker you did a great 👍 job sir. Wishing you all the best on your work.
The fact that they're giving the Authority and the Creature Commandos some spotlight really shows how dedicated DC and James Gunn are to showing off the characters you wouldn't expect in a million years to get their own film or TV show.

I appreciate this "face to face". Glad that your giving public commitment to storytelling! I know not every movie or show will be a success. Giving the production teams opportunities to make unique takes on stories and characters, will keep me not only coming back long term, but, also to be looking forward to the next projects! I like the idea of characters hopping from animation into live action. Star Wars recently did this with Ahsoka and that was well received so im interested to see them use these characters hopefully more productively.

James Gunn is in charge! This is what DCEU needed all along. A person who is creative, ambitious, and has the authority to make decisions. I have high hopes for these future projects.
I'm glad about DC Elseworlds. They can tell unlimited stories without needing to bother with continuity and more importantly it keeps thing fresh and interesting. Looking forward to more Elseworlds titles!

I’m in! Kinda strange that they’re going for a younger Superman while also having a Batman who’s on his fourth Robin. I don’t know how I feel about James Gunn calling Damian his “Actual Son” though.
I'm a big fan of the old cast of the DCEU. And I know plans get changed all the time, especially in the film industry. But the way he describes everything in this video makes me really want to believe that all of these projects and the ones after them will come to fruition. My fingers are crossed. DC, you'd better not disappoint the fans any further!
@Ben Black That was WB Discovery, and Batgirl was scrapped a good few months before Gunn was in the mix.

@Ben Black true, but they also thought it was a terrible movie (did bad in screenings, apparently) and they're saying the opposite about Flash[point], despite Ezra Miller's antics 🤷🏻♂️. They seem to think it's actually a really good film. And again, it's a convenient way to do a reboot. Batgirl was just a street level movie with no consequences for the DCEU, at large. They obviously thought they had nothing to lose, and not enough to gain from scrapping the Batgirl film.

I am definitely glad that we’re getting some cohesion in the DC universe, but I’m still upset that Warner Bros. did Henry Cavill so dirty by saying he could play Superman again, and then saying no 😒

A lot of Grant Morrison inspiration it looks like. I'm sold! Grant has written some of the best stories over the past 30+ years. They are the perfect creator to build the DCU around.
I'm beyond excited for the future of DC
Excited and curious to see how paradise lost and woman of tomorrow play out and if the productions will remain true to the storylines. IMHO the swamp thing serial was pretty good and can't wait to see a large screen horror adaptation. I guess I'm gonna have to wait another ten years to see great DC story arcs like the Blackest Night on the screen.
I wanna see more live action Superman films in the future
I love the chapter title "Gods and Monsters." I really like the cohesive nature to keep the animated voice-overs tied to film. The consistency is so important to keeping fans engaged in long-term storytelling.
Tbh I was expecting a reboot or a sequel to the Gods and Monsters movie. Where Kirk Langstrum is Batman, Big Barda is Wonder Woman, and Lor’Zod is Superman.
I expect James Gunn to remember this is dc and he can't pull some guardians of the galaxy festival comedy fest, something that works perfectly for gotg but not for dc stories

I like the title too but what I don't like is they introduced bunch of characters only super comic nerds will know instead of starting with basic ones like batman, flash wonder woman aquaman etc
@sara it's not even an original title, DC used it for an animation which was about Superman being raised by a Latino couple, Batman was a blood thirsty vampire (I forget what Diana was)

If you could somehow keep the character voices and likenesses consistent in the games as well- that would be awesome.
Really happy about the fact that this guy is honest about the movies so far and the vision he has!
Gunn is tasked with the Herculean effort of resetting DC's slate after ten years of sporadic fan favorite hits, terrible flops, and epic mismanagement. Actors, writers, and fans were all mistreated, but a few real gems made it through. I wish him luck and hoping the ship is righted. Also, Elseworlds is such a great idea. Allows experimentation and fun one offs without being saddled by Crisis of Infinite Earths levels of continuity brain-hurt.
@J.O.K.E.R. The Suicide Squad released mid-pandemic and was on HBO Max at the same time it was in theaters. So yeah, no wonder it didn't make a billion dollars.

@Akseli Alanen “The Suicide Squad” which he directed was a huge box office 💣. It failed to make $200 million at the (world-wide) box office.
The only actual flops that he was a part of were the two Scooby-Doo live action films from 2002 and 2004. He wrote the scripts for both films.

I'm so happy for all this. Finally proper Green Lantern stuff and so excited for Swamp Thing. DC are really in a great position to see what worked for Marvel, subvert sometimes too and also see what recently hasn't landed. I can't wait! If DC and Marvel are both popping I'll be over the moon.
this all sounds amazing especially the animation piece--they've OWNED animated movies and shows for forever, why not play to their strengths. Bravo DCU!
Honestly... What he's selling and the way he's selling it actually kinda peaks my interest and even makes me cautiously optimistic.
If they manage to pull off the concept he sells, the 'linking/tying' different mediums (movies, series, games and animation) together in the way he says (by way of storylines, actors reprising their roles throughout the different mediums, etc.), they'll even be taking things a step further then Marvel and all while doing their own thing.
Wasn't a fan of how Marvel clearly forced and anorganically tried to ty different mediums together sacrificing good things in the process like for instance the EMH Averngers cartoon, the Spectacular Spider-man cartoon and some of the Netflix series.
Also, why bother trying to link a game to your cinematic universe if you're too cheap to make use of the actors? I for one hope Gunn 'll pull it of because DC deserves to shine as much as Marvel.
So truly and genuinely excited for The Authority.
I'm all for more Green Lantern content. You can make so many movies and shows out of just that part of the universe, it's insane.

I'm a big fan of Zack Snyder's DCEU. I will always love the DCEU world he and they created. But after watching and listening to James Gunn here, it looks promising and colorful! I'll give it a try. No matter what, after all, we are all a big DC family!
Seems like James Gunn is having a much easier time getting projects into than Snyder

This sounds and should be a lot more fun than people think,I was like most people outraged at news of Cavill's departure and resetting the whole universe.
But I think we should all give Gunn and Peter a chance,I can sense his excitement,honesty to story material,him trying to make a coherent plan along with writer/director is commendable.

I’m no big DC fan, but I really like what James Gunn has done with GotG and I’m interested to see his vision pan out! I’m hoping that his upcoming DC films will be distinct from Guardians and slightly more serious in tone - crossing my fingers he doesn’t disappoint!

Not to be argumentative, but it's 100% reasonable to assume that not every DC fan knows much about Themescera. Everyone has their own little niche. For example: I know a ton about the Batfam but absolutely nothing about the Lantern Corps. He could also be speaking to any potential newcomers who don't know much about DC.

They aren't keeping him except until his movie comes out. They are hard rebooting the DCU and recasting everyone. The last DCEU show will effectively be Waller. Afterwards even Amanda Waller will be recast hopefully not into being psychopath like the DCEU version.

Totally! Feels like the creepiness of Morrison’s GL run (which was an echo of the Hal stories back in the late 60s/early 70s! Totally the right way to go and just focusing on Hal and John is perfect
@Xeato1515 the direction that show was going to take would’ve been god awful from what I had heard it was going to be about. The descriptions for the two scripts and premises are night and day

@Ryan anyway the point remains the same, origin movies or shows are what builds up the fanbase and gets everyone in the world onboard for bigger things. Without them only hardcore fans might (key word) be interested and that's just not a big enough market to support even a comic let alone a show or a movie.
@Ryan and i was there when it premiered at NYCC in like...2010? and it was BOOED because it was CGI and tons of ppl were like "no CGI!" "Animate or don't do it at all" and it was horrible that the fandom were so close minded and intolerant. I loved the series but as you already know, countless ppl refused to support it and it died with one season. I thought the series was awesome and sinestro's guest appearance was amazing but it died and after the two GL animated movies bombed, GL was left to rot.
The Ryan Renolds movie had great potential but somehow went off the rails so fast esp with Hammond being both total cringe in the movie and ...becoming the first yellow lantern....wut? Beware My Power wasn't a terrible movie but wasn't great either and was all over the place with the characterizations and the finale was a mess....

@Ghost in the Sea No Sinestro is a full on bad guy, when he was a Green Lantern he use the power to do as he wanted and abuse of his power. Later on The Guardians took the power ring from him and deserted him, he then discovered the power of fear and formed the Yellow Lanterns now with the only goal of power and the destruction of the Green Lanterns
@AlexJ Sánchez Isn't Sinestro more of an anti-hero? I'm genuinely asking. I'm not very well versed in Lantern lore, but from what I've read, I got the sense that Sinestro was sort've the Red Hood to the Green Lantern's Batman, if that makes any sense.
@Michael Tennyson read the 2010 comic Green Lantern: Secret Origin. It’s a great version of his origin that uses characters like pre-red lantern Atrocitus as the antagonists
I was just thinking that also I would love to see some evil lanterns like Black Hand, Sinestro, and Atrocitus

Alan Moore's run on Swamp Thing is just phenomenal. I hope there are direct references from that saga in the upcoming Swamp thing films

I'm actually excited we're getting a *Lanterns* show. And the fact that it's also gonna be a sort of mystery genre makes it better since I love the suspense they give. What was unexpected was that Amanda Waller's gonna be getting her *OWN SHOW* bro... AND A LIVE-ACTION DAMIAN WAYNE?!! THIS JUST KEEPS GETTING BETTER AND BETTER!!! And I love that they're also giving Booster Gold his own spotlight now, he's actually one of my Top 20 favourites. LOVE THIS!🙌❤️

Joker has always been the go-to baddie for Batman, so it was great to see Riddler take center stage in The Batman. I would love to see Scarecrow as the villain in an upcoming Batman film. What do ya' think, James? I am SO excited to see what comes with you and Peter at the helm. DC has been floundering and lost its footing. But with your vision I'm excited again to see a fresh perspective and new start. If anyone can do it, James Gunn is the right one to start anew.
