When will we start to see 18:9 displays? With the more recent cinematic move to 18:9 and with the ratio being a good compromise between 16:9 and 21:9, I'd like to see 18:9 monitors and tvs.
And with 18:9, I'd like to see a 36:9, that way 18:9 content shows up better when splitting windows.

Honestly? A monitor with a decent PC in it would be amazing for our marketing department that really need nothing more. Until now, the only thing available would be an iMac at a gajillion bucks or the Surface Pro, both not intended for simple office work. Having a thin client right there in your monitor would be amazing.

4:17 i think this was a nice change, obviously the monitor division knows what a great monitor is by the looks of it. When I see the system division create an all in one PC monitor it usually look really goofy IMO. That LG monitor is attractive, even though it might be sort of low spec.

In business environments where you're deriving most of your computing power from the server, this hmi type computer makes a lot of sense. Hospitals, dental offices, data entry, e-mail stations. none of these need powerful dedicated equipment, just a damn good monitor and a gigabit connection to the server.

I've been waiting for that 38" 3840x1600 144Hz IPS display for what seems like ages! I would also take a 40" 4K 120Hz+ IPS/VA/OLED display as well. G-Sync is cool and all, but I'm not willing to pay Nvidia's bullshit G-Sync tax despite owning only Nvidia GPUs for the past 5+ years. That ship has already sailed. Just build a cheaper version with Freesync 2 support, and I'm in.

I doubt this will be seen, but just a heads up on the "business" display with the PC: those are actually pretty common set ups for traders and financial analysts. Bloomberg terminal and a few other platforms are used in set ups like this in order to provide a standalone, dedicated environment for security and removing overhead. Had the pleasure of using a similar system rigged up with the Blockchain terminal trading system. Obviously a bit limited, but as a fan of special application operating systems it was super cool to see what they can do in such a simple package.

for that last monitor it would be perfect for user terminals. i work in heavy duty truck repair at a dealership that is over 10,000 employees total most people i found only need screen real-estate for multiple web based applications simultaneously. the programs do not require much horse power and over 60% of computer users are using dual 24 inch 1080p displays and we are deploying more extra monitors than ever. when you combined the computer to the monitor and made it large enough to have same space as 2 1080p screens. you have just replaced a nuc and 1 monitors and all the cables that run to the nuc. eliminating points of failure. this sounds awesome if the price is similar at the next replacement interval.

It's a thin client. So it's literally just a nice display with a simple computer slapped on the back that's really only made for connecting to a virtual machine. They're great for schools since all of the computer hardware is just a server somewhere with a bunch of virtual machines which helps keep things easy to maintain and simple to set up. They can also be used in the workplace, especially if you have an office without dedicated desks (think call centers and stuff like that) - thin clients enable people to access their own virtual desktop no matter what client they use to access it.

When it comes to that 38CK950N, that would be a huge seller in office spaces that require lots of screen real estate but don't wanna get too involved in the tech. For example I could see row after row of customer service stations with these on their desk. It's an ultrawide high res panel, which makes the multiple windows they will need to have open easy to use, and the all in one nature will be super clean and easy to manage for the desk space, so it is less wires being run, which is always a good thing. Also being a Ryzen APU is a good thing because AMD, so glad to see an OEM (LG) actually decided to go not Intel in an "all in one" for a change.

I’m pretty sure hundreds of others have said this but if not, that Thin Client computer monitor is perfect for businesses. People at front desks with limited/no space for towers/nucs or workers who just need a lightweight computer to access a powerful VDI server that is in another part of the building or off campus. Plug a mouse and keyboard in and your workers can login to their personal virtual desktop from any terminal. Makes restoring work computers a snap too since it’s all virtual and then you don’t have to manage multiple pc cases filling with dust or anything.
TL;DR workers are replacing multiple monitors with ultrawides

The last monitor is definitely for Thin Client usage and would be a really good solution from my perspective. But what would be AWESOME -> 144hz Monitor with a built in Streaming PC or Capture Card, so that you only need to have a single Desktop PC in your Room and as soon as you switch on the "Streaming Function" on the Monitor (as easy as something like a brightness adjustment setting), the Card/PC will start and Stream to Floatplane/Twitch/CHclip, with whatever settings you as a user has precompiled into it :D

The monitor with the PC at the back I could see being really good for business' that have windows licenses already. Or as the gift of choice to from the techie to the normie. • Raykahn
    Raykahn Před 10 dny

@Linus That last monitor is just an All-In-One. Lots of positions in the enterprise space need screen real estate, but not necessarily power behind it. Think positions like accountants or plan reviewers, who may have a few windows open they view all at once, but aren't performance hogs. Products like that make it easy to give employees a cleaner work space by reducing the computer's footprint on their desk, as well as removing wire clutter. Personally I think using a VESA mount for an ultracompact desktop is the better way to do it, but its just a different flavor of the same thing.

    JETWTF Před 10 dny

I can't play games on an ultrawide monitor... not because of my PC but because of the monitors dimensions. It makes me feel like I am wearing a knights helmet without the weight on my neck. Just doesn't feel right. What would be better for me is a large monitor without the game itself scaling to fit it but add more peripheral view to fill the screen. I prefer 16:10 over 16:9 aspect ratio.. ultrawides are even worse for me lol.

Monitor with built in PC? If they made it field serviceable, then it's great. If not, it's yet another all in one.
It's for the people that can't stand wires, even the ones you absolutely need, like the power cable.
It would also be good for content consumption systems or as a home entertainment hub for a small apartment, or a secondary one for a bedroom, kitchen, or someplace you don't really want a tower.
Could also be good for kids, as there's nothing to knock over or shove toys in.
If it had a thunderbolt port and could accommodate an external GPU, it becomes a decent gaming station with very little effort.

+Chad Anaconda Any normal person looking at his screens for the first time would have the same reaction. It's a problem in business, where the higher ups that don't actually use the screens on a daily basis are the ones picking and choosing. Also, he still looked at all that stuff back when he had one normal screen. He just had to switch between windows constantly, taking paper notes, wearing out the printer, because no one can remember a series of complex numbers even for a second. In my experience, with 'everything' visible at once, you're looking at double to a 10 fold improvement in productivity, depending on what work is being done.

    • James Bradley
James Bradley Před 6 dny +1

@Chad Anaconda Respectfully, if you were a daytrader you would easily see how obvious the answer is to your question.
Now with that being said, Yes, it is definitely needed for my area of focus. There are millions of ways to skin a cat (as they say). And in trading there are millions of ways to make money. Without writing hundreds of pages, my specific way is to see a setup on a one minute chart. My eyes are scanning at least 5 to 6 stocks for quick scalps. Just as a pilot (me also) scans his instruments, it is basically the same.

    • Chad Anaconda
      Chad Anaconda Před 7 dny

Does displaying all that data at once actually help? Like how can you even see it all? I've wondered this for a while about daytraders. Wouldn't it make more sense to set some kind of alerts like "this stock's running average passed threshold x" or whatever so you aren't limited to what your eyes can take in?
