- Welcome to The Last of us episode 3 reaction! This episode titled Long, Long Time was such a heartwarming and heartbreaking episode. We catch up with Bill and Frank as we see how their relationship evolved through the decades. This love story is one for the books and it definitely had us in tears for a while! Joel and Ellie get to bond a little over what the world use to be like. This episode is 3 for 3 and we couldn't be happier with the direction they took. We are absolutely loving this show so far!

WOAH! Thank you so much for all the love guys!

What an episode! So beautifully shot and such amazing performances. The story of Bill & Frank definitely broke us a little. But like they say...we gotta focus on the good days. This episode teaches us that despite there being rough times in our journey there is always something to be hopeful for. Even if that's just growing old or having the incredible gift of growing old with your significant other. This show is about love and nothing reflect that more than this entire episode.
Thank you so much for all the love and support it means the world to us.

@jeff Monroe Love is love. If my neighbour is into same-sex relationships, I don't care. 🤷♂
I got to watch women and men in multiple bed scenes for 35 years. Same-sex should be the same.
I even watched that really weird "Director's Cut" of Luc Besson's *Leon* and **that** was uncomfortable for real.
@jeff Monroe I forgot their names, but I don't have any right now. 😅
Tess died in real life...
I know man…heartbreaking. Such a talented soul.
@Bryan Alvarez I hope Episode 4 is dedicated to her or something similar.
Everyone talking about Bill and Frank, but don't forget that this episode also showed that Tess was seemingly a lovely person before a life of survival turned her into the cold harsh person we see later.
The horrors of this world take a toll. Tess is gonna be missed. But I’m glad that the last bit of energy she had she used it to inspire Joel.
I don't know how that devalues the bill and frank story. But if you watch the reactions, several people mentioned it.
I've spent the last two days watching reaction videos to this episode so I can feel like I felt watching it for the first time again and again. It's so beautiful and so intimate. I can't believe this love story takes place in the middle of a zombie apocalypse. Thank you for letting me watch along again.
Thank you so much for your wonderful comment. This episode was truly incredible, and one of the greatest love stories and LGBTQ representations we've gotten to see. Just the most beautiful heartbreak!
I've seen a few people say that Bill knew how to survive and Frank knew how to live, and that's why they complimented one another so well. It was so heartwarming to watch them literally grow old together. Easily one of the best episodes of television I have ever, ever watched.
Wow! That’s is so true and beautiful. They were perfect for each other. We are still recovering from episode 3. The impact this episode has left on us! Can’t wait for the next one already 😄
@The Media Knights I can't wait either even though I know it'll probably wreck me just as much as this one did 😅😭
00:33:42 OMG! 😭 They finally got me to tears. I only just noticed that Bill is now the one taking care of the flowers and other ornemental stuff, because Frank is too sick.
Riiiight 😭😭😭 the way he took care of the flowers, only to see them wilted after they're both gone shattered me...
Yeah, not many people notices but that really got to me too 🥺
I think it's a lot longer than four years of loneliness. Bill must've completely given up on love even decades before the apocalypse. He seemed so shocked and happy and nervous when all of that changed within 30 minutes.
Absolutely agree! He became so vulnerable. My god the feels! This episode and it’s performances ❤️
same sex marriage wasn't legalized in the US by 2003. Bill lives in a small town. He's closeted. Both of these men have lived their lives in danger. They have watched a plague ravage their community. They won this world. they loved and lived and went out on their own terms together,
I know this has been said in every comment section today, but this genuinely was the best episode of television i have seen in a very long time. Possibly ever.
It really was... This has moved us in such a way, it's going to stay with us forever.
I love that in the game Bills character serves as a warning to Joel of what he can’t let himself become but here they instead decided to use him as an inspiration. A major change but one that works so well and is able to surprise people who have played the game while still hitting all the necessary story beats and leaving the characters at the same spot that they needed to be to match the game.
Couldn't have said it better! We kept expecting the nasty breakup insinuated from the games and instead got this heartwrenching and beautiful moment !
If they were able to do this with Bill and Frank's relationship, imagine what they'll do with Joel and Ellie! 😭Such a good episode.
Exactly, this has just cemented our faith in this show!! It's just gonna be more tears and overall awesomeness!
Imagine what they'll do with Sam and and Henry.
And they did this in just a single episode. Honestly, if this show keeps pace with its quality it could truly get the number 1 rated TV show, even with the people review bombing this episode
@corvus13 Sam and Henry are going to mess me up… I’m pretty sure they changed something with Sam’s character that I don’t want to say incase people don’t want to know, but if it’s true then it would be interesting to see what they do with it
@Clover Yeah, I know what you're talking about.
"This is my street too. So let me love it the way I want to"
Years later:
"Then love me the way I want you to."
Damn, the writing is on point !
I liked how the dust told a story through this episode. During his first visit, Frank notice there's dust on most furniture Bill doesn't use often. During theur last meal, everything is dust free, because Frank would've probably not let that slip. Then when Ellie read the letter and pushed the key, it left a trail in the dust, giving us a new context clue about how long Bill and Frank had been dead.
I also like how we can see Bill's view of Joel evolve through the years. It started with Bill pointing his gun at Joel. Then, when he thought he was going to die, he asked Frank to call Joel. Not Tess, who Frank got along with, Joel. He was the only one Bill trusted to take care of the love of his life.
And more obviously, he was trusted with the password to the fence at some point. Meaning it was considered ok for Joel to let himself in instead of waiting at the entrance to be invited.
Such beautiful writing! Bill had a friend in Joel. Or as he put it an almost friend haha what a beautiful episode…can’t wait for the rest of this show ❤️
I platinumed the games. This episode was a television masterpiece. I wish I had the words to describe it better. I loved it
Whoooa, I'm still trying to get the platinum on TLOU Part 2, that's impressive!! This episode was just the most beautiful and heartbreaking thing I've ever seen... The despair it gave us just hurt too good...
There was so much worry TLOU couldn’t pull off a game adaptation to TV. Don’t think anyone was expecting the narrative to actually be better 😭😭😭
This episode was so beautiful. I know a lot of people view TLOU as a story about Joel and Ellie's relationship. And thats true to a point. But the story is about the human condition. And how badly we need to not be alone. Bill and Frank's story shows that beautifully, and really sets the tone.
Absolutely agree! It’s a story about love and connection. This episode delivered all that flawlessly. This episode will stick with me for a while!
This is one of the best episodes of television I’ve ever seen. Incredible!
It truly was - the way we were both sobbing even while we were editing... This episode will stick with us for a long, long time...
@The Media Knights I see what you did there
@Ben I didn't even catch that when i first read this comment.
Rest in Peace Annie Wersching.
The Voice and MO-Cap actress for Tess in the Last of Us game. She passed away of cancer yesterday at 45 years old, Jan 29th when this episode aired.
Tragic we got an episode dealing with a tragic loss and then lost one of the VA's from the game the same day.
Right... Can't believe it, she was so talented... And on top of that it's an episode that touches on the loss of Tess... Heartbreaking
As always, I love your reactions, especially how you guys pay attention to details. You guys are definitely in my top 3 favourite CHclip reaction channels.
I was worried that you don't like the changes as I've seen some reactors didn't. So I'm glad that you love the episode. I think what's so great about the writing of this episode is that it managed to capture a lot of different emotions in such a short duration. We experienced funny, fear, warmth, beauty, nostalgic, distrust (this is mainly for non-gamers), surprise, sadness, grief, horror and hope. Those are a lot of emotions for one episode, that's a stellar writing right there and deserve it's own award.
I think everything in this episode is phenomenal and simply one of the best episodes I have watched on TV shows and I believe both Nick Offermanns and Murray Bartlett deserve Emmy, too bad there can only be one winner for supporting actor. I haven't sobbed this much from a show/movie ever (except for listening to Saturn)
P.S.: it's great that you know On the nature of daylight by Max Richter 😁
Whooooaaaa dude thank youuu!!! What a huge compliment, honestly, thank you so so much, this truly brightened our day!!
Honestly, we loved this episode. The changes they made to Bill and Frank's relationship, the way they took their time to delve into their relationship and as you said, give us so many emotions in one single episode is truly masterful. Also, On the nature of Daylight is easily one of my all time favorite songs, I always use it in my playlists when I write my own stuff! It's one of the most beautiful pieces out there! Thank you so much again for your support and comment, we so appreciate you!!!
@The Media Knights absolutely love this episode and I think this is a better take for Bill & Frank's story, although this version wouldn't work in the game and vice versa. I never cared about Bill & Frank in the game and their story wasn't very impactful...while Ellie and Bill's banters were funny, they weren't that memorable. Too much banters on the show with such a limited duration and adding to already existing Joel and Ellie's dynamic would just make the show more of a comedy (like Thor 4) and eliminates the tension and emotions. Just my take.
Oooh! On the nature of Daylight is also one of my favourites! I bet you would love to listen to Sleeping at Last's Atlas I & II 😁
Can't wait for your next episode! Will check out your Chernobyl episodes when I get the time 😊
Ahhh Chernobyl! That was a wild ride as well! Can’t wait for the next episode! Thank you so much for hanging with us. We appreciate you ❤️
which reactors didnt like it? I have seen 20 or so now (I fucking love this episode) and have only met tears like this reaction.
@Jimmyw some reactors I didn't pay attention to their names while searching for reactions...not worth to give them views so I just clicked 'don't recommend channel' lol
This episode was the best thing I've seen on TV in a long time, it was played so so well and as mentioned... the music 😔 such a great reaction again guys, the laughter and tears were shared by the rest of us in this episode that's for sure! ❤️

Congratulations🎉🎉🎉🎉 You are selected among my giveaway winners for the new year 🎄🎄🎁🎁^^^,
100% agreed on this. Once I realized it was that song playing, the floodgates of tears just opened... It was such a tender and beautiful episode and such a beautiful change made to the original storyline. Thank you so so much for your support and kindness, we truly appreciate it!!
@The Media Knights I've just noticed (after watching this episode again) that the tape Joel and Ellie play on the way out in the car is the same song Bill and Frank were singing at the piano...
Yeah…breaks your heart once more. This time in another hopeful setting for our favorite duo 😄
What an incredibly powerful & poignant backstory reveal. A deviation from the game, but a welcome one.
Absolutely! This deviation was a change we never knew we needed. And it was a truly unsbashedly beautiful change.
I sobbed more than you two guys together. What an incredible episode! I'm really messed up for the rest of the week 😭😭😭
Oh my god, same, we were still sobbing as we were editing. I still get teary eyed just thinking of this... Just done 😭
Bill´s letter was already a punch in Joel´s gut even before it mentions Tess... but the effect of those words needed the backstory so they could resonate with us also... hence we got the story of Bill and Frank.
Joel was doing it for Tess up until now. From now on, he´ll struggle to keep his walls up and these words will hunt and move him until the very end (of this season at least).
Also, this episode tell us that there´s a world worth saving so the stakes with Ellie´s immunity is even greater.
Such a great hour of TV that elevates the original story in every way.
(Also a nod to Pascal´s acting... you can almost see his mind racing with thoughts while Ellie´s reading the letter)
Pedro Pascal’s performance of Joel is filled with little nuances! He is fantastic! Absolutely loved the change and the backstory we got. Indeed there is a world worth saving out there and people worth caring for ❤️
The final scene where Joel tells Ellie not to turn off the Linda Ronstadt song and she replies, "It's better than nothing." Since that was the song that was responsible for Bill and Frank's relationship, what the writers are really saying is that love is better than not having love.
I like this take on that moment! Also finally gets a chuckle out of Joel! Can’t wait to see these 2 on Sunday 😃
Y’all had the same reaction I did, from the ‘oh shit not this song’ to the ‘I am no ok right now’ to the ‘fucking hell’ ending with tear stained sweatshirt. I. Am. A wreck.
Hahhaha facts, also my swollen Rudolf nose and tear streaked smudged make up face was really just a symbol of how we handled this show thus far 😂
Got my lady watching, we both loved this ep so much, Emmy's galore all-around!
Yesss!!! This show has shown such excellence in every single aspect. So much heart, so beautifully crafted... This deserves to clean out everything in awards season.
I’ve probably watched 40-50 reactions to this episode and you guys are definitely in the top three. Thank you! 🌈💕✨
That means so so much to us ❤️ thank you for taking the time to say something nice ❤️
I hope they consistently give Ellie something to be snarky about every episode. It's my favorite thing.
Ellie's sass is such a damn highlight, her banter with Joel and his grumpy dad vibe is just the best!
You're not ok. I'm not ok. We're all not ok. Even a day later and I'm shook. So much so that I'm seeking comfort/torturing myself by watching all these beautiful reactions to this episode.
It's heartbreakingly beautiful. The writing, the cinematography, the music, the ACTING. *chef's kiss
Bill knew how to survive, Frank knew how to live.
Oh absolutely. This is that episode where you realize how much it hurts - but it's a good kind of hurt, because it's just so masterfully executed. What an episode!
Great, heartfelt reaction that shows how impactful this episode was! Can't wait for next week!
Thank you so so much, we appreciate your support. The fact that this resonated with you means the world to us!
Just wanted to say, I love the way you guys are doing these, jumping straight in and so on. Also, this episode was entirely unexpected and kind of beautiful. Haven't played the game but i've been loving the show so far as a post-apocalyptic survival story.
Now I have to re-calibrate - turns out this is _also_ a work of art.
Thank you! Like to give you guys the good stuff from the get go! This episode was most definitely unexpected but filled with love. What an incredible episode with some amazing performances. Really moved us! Thank you for taking the time to say something nice ❤️😄
when bill played that song on the piano, i cried, idk why, nothing really happened but the emotions behind it was so real, the obviously later i cried even more.....thanks hbo
Such a beautiful episode! So many heartfelt moments. This episode is one of those episodes that truly leave an insect in the viewer. And what a message to deliver! ❤️
00:10:48 I chuckled when Bill emerged from his secret hiding spot only to find himself in his glorious man cave. 😄
Hahahaha that part was comedy goldddd
Denise: I was fine!
Also Denise: *has been crying the whole episode*
❤
Hahaha I was a MESS, I'm tellin' ya!
It is incredible how this episode summarizes a powerful story that spans 20 years with an ending that moves to the bone. And the best thing was to see your reaction. and to be able to cry the chapter again, together with you.
Thank you for your comment, we are so glad you got to enjoy the episode again with us. The heartbreak of this episode will stick with us for a long long time, but it was so worth it and just so beautiful!
00:00:52 I felt like Joel thought about Tess for a second in that shot, and he imagined that she would have shared food with Ellie. This would explain why he took a pause and looked conflicted and sad for a moment before throwing the food at Ellie. 😬😥
I love the the acting, the directing, and the adaptation of this show! And I love your reactions too! :D I only follow 3 or 4 CHcliprs for TLOU, and I'm always happy when I see an upload! :D
Ohhh nice catch! Tess' presence, or lack thereof can definitely be felt throughout the whole thing, influencing the decisions Joel is making.
Thank you so so much for your support, it honestly means the world to us to read comments like these!! You make our day!
About Ellie... I knew Bella would fully "become" the Ellie we learned to love as soon as she would be alone with Joel. I was afraid we would not see her very much during this episode, and I was right. However, this resulted in one of the most beautiful gay love story in mainstream media.
People like to talk about "agendas", but I prefer to simply enjoy what I'm seing on-screen. (I'm a white, "heterosexual", borned-and-raised man.) I know a significant chunk of people, either because of their culture or because of their life experiences, will think that homosexuality is anomalous, but I hope they change their mind someday. :( (because life's easier that way) Some people think to themselves "what will people think?", but other people simply think that this is wrong and/or a crime. For this last category, I can only hope that they get to see more homosexual people or couples in their daily life and realize how insignificant sexual orientation is. :(
Sorry for going "sex-positive" or whatever that was for a moment. 😅
First of all please do not apologize for comments like these - we are completely in support of the LGBTQ+ community and have been craving some proper representation, so reading kind and supportive comments like these give us hope and happiness There are so many people out there that are part of the LGBTQ+ community that just wish to live their lives, and be themselves. It doesn't harm anybody. And showing support takes absolutely nothing away from anyone. What we saw in this episode was pure and true love - how could anyone conflate this with agenda? It's just sad. But then comments like these pop up and it gives us hope again.
This episode was truly beautiful and heartwrenching. Thank you so so much for your support and wonderful comment!
Great reactions! You're both so emotionally intelligent. It's a pleasure to watch and listen to your feedback on such a beautifully depicted relationship.
As a straight cis-gender woman, I was beaming with true pride while watching the episode unfold. Seeing LOVE be allowed to stand tall in this show-- a show about a post-apocalyptic world with so much loss and sadness-- was truly, truly, truly special. Bill, a character who was depicted as an angry (likely sociopath) in the game, being given such a beautifully touching love story was one of the biggest twists ever. A very welcome twist. "Remember, when lost in the darkness, look for the light." The true light being love, love, love! ❤💑
One small moment I noticed, that I really appreciated, was seeing Joel truly smile, for the first time since he and Sarah were on the couch. He cracked a genuine smile when he and Ellie were driving away from Bill and Frank's, and Ellie commented about Linda Ronstadt's song, "Eh... It's better than nothing." He smiled Beautifully, with his face lit by the sunlight, and Ellie glanced over, saw his smile, and smiled as well. Joel's beginning to step into the light. And, as Bill wrote, "God help any motherf**kers who stand in [his] way."
This episode and the show as a whole really is about love! And what a way to show it during this episode. I’m so happy and proud of what the writers gave us. Such a gift to spend an incredible episode with Bill & Frank and deliver us an incredible message. There’s someone in this world worth fighting for. Love is worth fighting for till the end. And last but not least love is love ❤️ thank you so much for taking the time and saying something nice. You’re awesome!
insane what they managed to write for new characters within an hour of time that relieved every bit of moisture from my eyes.
Seriously though... The emotional devastation this brought on was utterly heartbreaking...
They already had a basic framework from the game.
@Lalala Rose 90% of this episode isnt in the game
@BrianBender Fair enough. Bill and Frank’s relationship isn’t seen in the game and most of it is only hinted at.
I agree with you. This is the epitome of brilliant writing.
i just found this channel last week and I am already a massive fan. So glad to be weeping along to this episode for the second time tonight with y'all. That song ruins me and now it will do so even more.
Awww dude! Thank you so much for the love. It makes us so so happy seeing you guys enjoy our content. It means the world to us. This episode broke us in ways we didn’t even see coming!
Nice reaction, guys, as usual. Since the show tells a lot of the story in flashbacks, I'm hoping to see a long one that delves into Joel and Tess's relationship. It's obvious that he loved her, and I would like to see how that relationship started. It also means bringing Anna Torv back, and that's always a plus.
Would love to add some context to their relationship! I think it’s important to know just how much of a loss Tess was for Joel. Maybe in a future pivotal moment we’ll get to see it 😄
What’s so amazing is that the actors Nick Offerman and Murray Bartlett, they came from comedic shows like White Lotus and Parks & Rec. Seeing them in this in a totally different light is truly remarkable. I smell an Emmy.
Right?! These actors have incredible versatility, and such immeasurable talent. It truly does call for an Emmy!
this was filmed bout a hour from where i live, if they cast for next season im gonna try for it! love the reactions found you two on this show hope too watch many more with you guys in the future.
Hell yeah dude! You should definitely go for it if you have the chance! We are so glad to hear you enjoyed the reaction. Your support means the world to us. Hope yo catch you in future reactions 😃
@The Media Knights also made the comment fore i watched this reaction and this one is my fave one this episode had so many emotions come out of you two
P.s never played the game so you guys pointing things out helps me enjoy the series more.
45:02 Bella Ramsey doing Nick Offerman's Laugh as Ellie reading Bill's letter blew my fucking mind. Such a good touch. His laugh is so specific and she nailed it.
Dude! Didn’t even catch that amazing detail during our first watch. Thank you for sharing!
This episode was perfection and your reaction to it was as well. I don't comment on here a lot but I watch and thumbs up all the videos. Thank you for all you do to bring us these reactions and I have been waiting to watch yours since last night. You never disappoint. Much love from Texas.
Wow... this comment, man... Thank you. Honestly, it comes from the deepest part of our hearts, your support and kind words truly brighten our day. We are truly so glad to have you here. Much love back to Texas!
@The Media Knights I got so excited to leave a comment after the video I forgot to add something to your reaction! I actually think the song at the end of the first episode was Bill sending one last message. The song was Depeche Mode "Never Let Me Down Again". I went back after this episode and if you read the lyrics to that song, it will absolutely wreck you more knowing now what we didn't know then. Of course I could be wrong too! lol
Duuuude.. just read the lyrics and now we're emotionally destroyed all over again. Man, this was just so heartbreaking... Yet hopeful, somehow, at the same time... Thanks for pointing this out to us!
I just discovered your channel, and really been enjoying watching your videos. This show is so good, I’m gonna get dehydrated with how much it makes me cry though lol. I’ll definitely be giving thumbs up to help the CHclip algorithm cuz other people need to discover your channel too 🙂.
Oh my goodness, thank you so so much!! Your kind words and support truly mean the world to us! This episode definitely destroyed us emotionally, we are also still dehydrated!
Just when I thought I'd gotten over getting emotional watching this episode. I watch you guys react and the tears flow again with you guys. In a good way. My favourite reaction out of em all. Glad I found you. New sub right now.
Whoooaa thank you so much!!! What a huge compliment, we are so happy to have you here!! This episode was so beautiful and heartbreaking at the same time, such a gem!
This was truly a beautiful story. Never knew how only one hour of great character development is all it took to break me.
Right?! We were devastated after this... Just masterful storytelling!
Aside from this episode emotionally destroying me, the scene in the basement with Ellie and the infected was very interesting. The infected are not supernatural monsters, they are not dead who came back from the grave. They are sick people. PEOPLE. They might not have control over their body but they are still there, in a way. They feel, they see everything. And that's horrible. Maybe it's just me, but it felt like the infected was begging Ellie to end the pain with his eyes.
In the game they go even further to drive that point home. The infected literally sob while they stand there waiting for the to dictate cordyceps their next move. So yeah…there’s definitely a person somewhere still in there begging for this nightmare to end.
The whimper it gave out when she stabbed it was hard to take.
It really was...
I love y'all reactions! This is adaptation done right. This episode is so incredible not only does it gives us this beautiful heart wrenching story between Bill and Frank. A much better ending for them than the game. But we also get more world building. We see more back story between Joel and Tess and their journey which makes her death in 2nd episode pretty heartbreaking. Characters development between Joel and Ellie. But ultimately this episode is the theme of both the game and the show. Finding humanity, connection, love, and purpose in a post apocalyptic world-in this, Bill and Frank won and they became the emotional motivation for Joel and Ellie's story going forward. This is top tier masterful writing, directing, and acting.
Thank you so much for the support and kind words. Absolutely agreed on your comment, this episode truly solidified the masterful writing they've presented thus far. This game adaptation is in good hands!
There had better be some Emmy nominations for this episode alone. Really fantastic performances. Great reactions, guys.
Absolutely agreed, the performances are spectacular! Thanks so much for your support!!
You two are dope. It's fun to watch you guys, so much. Thank you for including us in this journey.
Thank you for the compliment! We appreciate you guys watching with us ❤️
So this episode broke me and I'm not a reaction video person but it effected me so much I started watching others reactions. I just wanted to say, the mirroring you two have in the way you interpreted this episode was fantastic. Thanks for a great job.
Wow thank you so much!! This compliment is huge and means the world to us, thank you for the support! The episode truly was something beautiful and so special!
At 22:28, I think your comment about how weird it feels to share your own space when you're used to being alone is very insightful. This episode did a brilliant job of capturing that. EMMYS FOR EVERYONE!!!! Also, just found yall's channel and am enjoying it a lot! :)
Emmy nominations for the performances in The Last of Us for sure! This was one of our favorite episodes. We’re glad you found us! Hope you enjoy the future reactions 😃
this reaction is amazing, almost cathartic. 38:44 literally broke me too - nice to see it wasn't just me. You've got a new fan!
Thank you for watching with us! When he brought the plates out that was IT for us...DONE absolutely devastated.
One of the most faithful, heartfelt, loving, caring, well thought out and articulated episodes of television that I have ever seen. This show is freaking phenomenal. It just keeps getting better and better
This episode was outstanding! Incredible performances, a heartfelt story and an incredible message behind. This is storytelling! Episode 3 of TLOU is probably one of the best episodes I’ve seen in a while!
Great, great episode. I also agree with the divergence from the game of the Bill and Frank story. It was beautiful. My favorite touch was Linda Robstadt's heart-wrenching rendition of "Long, long Time" Perfect episode.
My god! That song is stuck in our heads. Such a lovely song and used so perfectly throughout the episode. Absolutely fell in love with Bill & Frank. The actors did phenomenal and I felt for them in the end. One episode! That’s all it took. Some amazing writing here.
This is one of the best reactions I've seen. I don't know whether I'm welling up coz you two have been sobbing, or whether I'm still not over this episode. Either way, great video x
Woww this comment made our day!!! Thank you so much for your support, it really means the world to us! We were definitely ugly crying in this episode, and it still haunts us till this day!
What a reaction guys! Picked up on everything I felt the first watch through, absolutely love it !!
Thank you so much for watching with us! It means the absolute world to both of us 😄❤️
Because of recent trauma I've had a difficulty accessing certain emotions. This reaction is the first time I've cried in a long time. Thank you.
Thank you for sharing that with us. Through some of our life experiences, we can actually relate to how you feel. It's hard to let oneself feel, let oneself cry, but it is a beautiful thing when it comes. Even if it hurts 🙂 Things will get better for you. We wish you strength and are with you! Thank you for your comment. We are glad to have you here with us reacting to this show 🙂
@The Media Knights Thanks. It means a lot. :) Needless to say, I'm along for the ride now. Subscribed and looking forward to future reactions, especially this series.
I loved how the open front door closed by itself in the breeze. It was like Bill and Frank were leaving...
Ahh man! Right in the feels! 😭
I thought Sarah was the sweetest thing ever. But here comes Bill, grumpy misanthropic suddenly nervous, clumsy and cute AF 😍 (OMG I love Nick Offerman so much!!!). What next? The sweetest mushroom monster ever? I mean, we already know they can kiss.
I just started The Walking Dead again, which I had stopped watching: this old show is absolutely disgusting 🤮! The Last of Us is all about love, people getting attached to each other, piano-playing frogs, perfectly happy ducks, coonected mushrooms, nature healing and a gun-obsessed teen girl .💕🥀🌻🌈
Oh my goodness, first of all this comment is the most wholesome and cute thing we ever read on our comment section 😂😂 Bill was so loveable with all of his grumpy, paranoid sweetness, and the beauty and kindness Frank brought... This episode broke our hearts. The entire show has so much heart, it's a rarity these days... Thank you so much for coming back and commenting again, it always makes our day!!
This episode was the best piece of television I have ever seen. It had better win all the awards.
The Blues Brothers sang
"Everybody Needs Somebody to Love"
That's what this episode epitomizes.
They both needed someone to love.
Haha - love it as always! You two are the best! I can so relate to the tears - I watched it with my parents and was trying to hold back too hehe!
Aw thank you soo much, we love you too!! This episode had us messed uppp, could literally not stop crying 😂
Love your reaction as usual guys! Hard one to watch for sure. For a moment of levity, I was loving the locations on this episode in particular. The waterfall and trails Ellie and Joel were on I've been too numerous times, but the little bridge they cross is one I run across every single day!
No way dude! That is awesome! These locations are beautiful! Was this shot in Canada? We need to visit these locations someday!
@The Media Knights Canmore in the Rocky Mountains! Largely considered one of the most beautiful natural places on earth and I’m lucky enough to live near it!
@The Media Knights All over the province of Alberta, most of the city shots are in Calgary or Edmonton. Bill's house is in High river, a small town South of Calgary. The trails and road Ellie and Joel were walking along (and the gas station) are in and near Priddis, but the bridge is right smack dab in Calgary in Fish Creek provincial park!
Duuude! Can’t wait to go visit! The location looks absolutely stunning❤️
Thank you so much for the details! We’ll definitely add them to our list of locations. Would love to go visit some day 😃
It's implied but the disease is a hybrid of ALS and muscular degradation. I was truly stunned that they changed the way they would invoke a change in Joel's character but keep the impact and drive forward the same. This episode honestly got me invested again in The Last Of Us and excited to see if Craig Mazin and his team can truly provide even more deviations but exceptional writing to rectify the narrative issues and contrived character motivations that were questionably handled in The Last Of Us Part 2.
I haven't heard anybody mention it yet, but the details with their last drink are very important.
Bill brings out the bottle already opened, because he's already dosed it. This is Frank's first hint.
Bill puts the drugs in in front of Frank, so he can see it, but the bag is visibly smaller than the one we saw Frank holding earlier. Hint two.
Bill waits for Frank to drink, giving him a chance to change his mind, then immediately downs his once Frank is done.
It's at that moment that you can see the realization of the truth on Frank's face, and in his small movements.
I think the dialogue that touched me the most was "but I have had more good days with you than anyone else". Frank was Bill's person, his only purpose on earth and I'm glad they died together in their warm, cozy bed because Bill wouldn't have made it long without Frank. I also loved how they got married so that they could be connected with each other before death took them, man seeing a guy like Bill sobbing his eyes out on the couch really made me ugly cry.
This is so true... There are so many lines in this that just hit so hard. The home and love these two got to build together, the way they still got to live some semblance of a life - this was the best way for them to go. Together. We certainly ugly cried quite a bit... This destroyed us emotionally, and it's so beautiful because of it.
Once again the best reaction on youtube. What a great episode!
We are so happy you guys are enjoying these! It really makes all the hard work putting these together worth it ❤️
This episode wrecked me. Probably the saddest thing I’ve ever watched on television, in the best possible way. Outstanding episode!
The episode was absolutely incredible, honestly, I don't think any piece of media has had me this much in sobs in a long time...
Right there with ya!
It has a power to make you cry not only once.
@ar51lana Absolutely, I cried watching it the first time, and I think watching every reaction so far. I honestly can’t think of many instances that happened. Maybe the ending of Haunting of Hill House
NOOOO YOU DID NOT JUST BRING UP HAUNTING OF HILL HOUSE!!! That show is my FAVORITE (Denise) and it was one of the few shows that truly moved me to tears almost every episode. This truly matched up to that. It's so funny you mentioned it too because once we were done recording, that was the first thing I told Ari!
Idk if anyone has already said it yet but Bill's voice actor in the game, William Earl Brown and Nick Offerman, who plays Bill here, were both in HBO's Deadwood in 2004.
While I am bummed we didn't get to see an interaction between Ellie and Bill, and that they omitted one of the better sections of the game, I realize there would be no easy way to do the section justice in the span of a single episode. Nevertheless, I'm completely satisfied with this beautiful character study of Bill, and I'm excited to see where they take the series next.
I agree! We too wanted to see the hanging upside down, the school sequence and the car sequence after that. But firstly a show is a show and we understand budget concerns. By the looks of it they will be splurging that money during the next 2 episodes. Secondly I’m not mad at all with what we got. It was an incredible episode that allowed us to take a backseat and see the life of these 2 men in the post apocalyptic world. The message behind this episode will be Joel’s true motivation. Bill’s last words and Tess’ will be his guiding light in a way to do the right thing. Can’t wait to see next weeks episode. That sequence is about to go crazy!
I wouldn’t call it lazy writing. But definitely saving budget for the next episodes whilst still delivering the core message of this area in the game.
@MacGyver I know it seems like it would be cool to see that stuff on tv but really it’s just them walking around which is much more suited for the game. This left much more of an emotional impact then they ever could have
@MacGyver Calling this show lazy because you’re a homophobe is baffling. Nothing about this episode screams anything about an agenda. They chose this route for its significance to the story, nothing else. Just because everything did pan out the exact way you wanted it to does not make it lazy writing
Great reaction guys! I found you guys through TLOU and so glad I did!
Thank you soo much for the support, we're so glad you enjoyed our video! We're so glad to have you with us!
show is going great so far
It truly is!! Loving every minute of it!
So pleased with the change from the game here. Both are emotional but I definitely prefer this version.
We like this version of their relationship better too! This was such an emotional episode man…definitely wasn’t ready for all this
This episode wrecked me big time!Absolutely brilliant from start to finish.
Gosh what an episode…so beautiful and emotional. Gave us the core message of caring which is very necessary for our duo of Joel and Ellie. This show is killing it week after week
I was able to hold my tears up until they started playing Max Richter's music. That one is such a cheat code for emotions.
For real! Always gets us too. We know that track oh so well. Brilliant episode!
“Im so not ok!” I love this girl.
Didn't catch it the first time through, but the first infected... the old woman in the first episode... he was feeding her biscuits in the front yard. They offered Joel some but he made the Atkins remark, remember? Good thing he didn't take any of them biscuits.
Amazing reaction as always!
Thank you so much! We appreciate you watching with us 😄❤️
Great comment guys and I love your reaction it touches lives as this episode 3 is great twist
Thank you so much for all the love! We appreciate you taking the time to comment ❤️😄
Someone pointed out that if the infection started in 2003, Return of the King didn't come out that December, nor Revenge of the Sith. They only got the first two prequels.
Noooo, they never got to see those gems 😭 That's actually heartbreaking, the normalcy and joy they were all robbed of...
I hope that this episode and/or both Nick Offerman and Murray Bartlett get nominated for Emmies or other awards.
With the performances they both gave!? A nomination is most certainly underway!
I was waiting for your reaction. It was such an emotional rollercoaster.
It truly was!! We did not expect the episode we got and we mean that in the best way possible!
18:30 19:33 22:07 28:04 29:38 36:20
the lighting department does it on purpose, mostly we see the light on and near Frank as it is the light for Bill
Great catch! Storytelling through detailed cinematography right there 😃
The song during the final montage is On the Nature of Daylight, and it would make you cry while watching someone mow the lawn or washing dishes.
It’s an absolute masterpiece of a track! Got immediate chills!
love you two, perfect reaction
Thank you so much for watching! ❤️
The one thing you have to remember about the mass grave, Joel said this was 1 week-post outbreak. And any military-run government was going to look at those people as whom they had no room for IN their QZ, where they would be contributing as a workforce, as resource drains. If they're out there doing their own thing, they're using resources your QZ will eventually need. Brutally, unfeelingly practical.
Yeah... The government is going to look at things more as a number's game, they need the ones that are strong to pull their weight. It's going to be a very harsh survivalist world, which is an utter contrast to how Frank, and inadvertently Bill chose to live their lives.
i love this reaction. Thank you
Our pleasure! Thank you for watching!
The directors said they didn't think of one disease in particular for Frank, but they thought either ms or als. Good call on it being a muscular disease.
Ahhh ok so not too far off, thanks for confirming!
Bill & Frank, 16 years of love
Indeed ❤️
best episode i've ever seen in my entire life!!! On streaming platform 🤩🤩 holy shit!!
Absolutely agreed!!! This episode was a masterpiece!!!
@The Media Knights yeah it's just human nature🤷♂️
Thank you guys! You are the best! It's too much for me.
Our pleasure! Thank you for watching with us!
I can't say anymore than "Incredible well done"
But crying counter 3 of 3 here
FACTS!! This show made us cry literally every single episode!
Bill taught Frank how to survive. Frank taught Bill how to live.
Exactly... Bill kept their house safe, Frank made it a home...
I never thought I would get tears off my eyes from 2 gay guys loved it .. from playing the game it was a beautiful insight of these 2 characters
Honestly, never expected for Bill and Frank to make us cry like this, especially after what we knew from the games. But we love the changes - their love story was just so beautifully handled and in a way, this change was one that they both deserved.
The stones Joel piles at the beginning are called a cairn. They are markers for the Dead. Thought I'd mention this as so far I've nit seen anyone else mention it
Interesting!! Would make sense that this would be how Joel would try to offer a remembrance for Tess.
It’s interesting, the people I watched reaching to this episode say the bill was alone for four years. When likely the odds are, he was alone for more than those four years, even before the outbreak.
That is very true! Frank cured an lifetime ailment of Bill's, and it was such a stunning episode. We did cry, but their ending was, in all honesty, the happiest one we've gotten in TLOU.
Bill helped Frank survive but Frank helped Bill live.
A very subscription-worthy reaction!
Hey dude! I think you were our 10000 subscriber! Thank you for showing us some love ❤️
I don't know you names, but I'm so glad the person on the right got to recognize "On the Nature of Daylight" as soon as it started playing.
It's one of my favourite pieces of music from Richter as well, alongside "November" and his "4 Seasons".
My favourite movie being "Shutter Island", in which this music is paired with "This Bitter Earth" by Dinah Washington, for the end credits. Which is haunting.
Max Richter is a god of a composer. And this music choice for these scenes is a punch in the guts.
So, thanks for recognizing it I guess :)
Haha thank you for recognizing it also! This song was also used in Arrival, and it's one of the most heartbreakingly beautiful pieces out there! Really managed to break our hearts even more in that particular scene! Btw, our names are Ari and Denise 🙂
@The Media Knights Thanks for the reply, and for letting me know your names.
I really liked your reaction btw. Honest and intelligent.
Cheers :)
Thank you! Can’t wait to discuss episode 4 with you 😃
One of best eps. 3 reaction on CHclip, I saw 20+ reaction so far. New sub
Whooaaa thank you so so much!!! It means the world to us to have your support!
Wonderful reaction vid! Subscribed!
Aww thank youu!! Glad to have you join us!!
Murray Bartlett's American accent is so good. But then, he had years of practicing it on Guiding Light.
Such a fantastic actor! The performances both of these actors delivered in this episode is Emmy worthy ❤️
Oh my god. Joel stashed stuff in the beginning at a Cumberland Farms. That is a very common gas station in New England. Absolutely hilarious.
I’ve never heard of or seen one of these before! Are they still around?
